By the way, the fact that Billicheat & Vrabelcheat can operate in this league without negative commentary while Mike Martz is black balled speaks volumes about how this Global Coporation is run.

Burns me to no end.

There are very few assistant coaches I would strongly be against hiring. Ex-Patriots? Cheaters? First off, in sports, the old saying goes "if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying". Having said that, I accept that to mean with respect to the rules. Rules are bent, stretched and skirted all the time. It's what makes sports sports. It isn't life and death. It isn't financial planning. It isn't tax forms. It's sports. Another saying is "it's only cheating if you get caught". That being said, I hated the fact the Patriots filmed the Rams red zone walk through. I hated the fact they mauled Marshall. But we were the big bad Greatest Show on Turf. No amount of cheating, bending, stretching or skirting the rules should have beaten us. I've always maintained the belief the Rams came out cocky, over confident and arrogant in Superbowl 36 and it cost them a Championship.

Back to the coaching search. I don't think they're necessarily interviewing Vrabel for DC. He was offered a DC position in the off season and Houston gave him a big raise to keep him there. I think they're interviewing him for the HC position. He played the game a long time and despite playing LB, he played a cerebral type game. I don't think he's stupid. On the contrary, I think he knows football quite well. There was a former LB who turned into a pretty good head coach in Pittsburgh. I wouldn't be upset if they shocked the world and made him a HC.

I'm open to anybody from anywhere IF they can come in, change the thinking AND deliver a team who is in the running for a Championship every year.

I think you're right. That was Vince Lombardi, wasn't it?

Pretty sure Tom Landry said that. No wait, that was Paul Brown. Or was is it Don Shula? But, you're right, it isn't life and death or taxes but is there an acceptable time to cheat? I think it's a gigantic leap to imply that "everyone" is cheating, they're just not getting caught at it.

Cheating is okay as long as your opponent is over-confident. Got it. What about Enron? They cheated, got caught and their penalty was...being given more money. Couldn't just chalk them up as criminals, it was for the greater good to let them get away with it. Sounds familiar...

There was also an all-world LB who absolutely flamed out as a HC in SF. I'm sure he wasn't stupid either. There are plenty of smart, potentially good HC's out there who weren't a part of the most blatant cheating team in the history of the NFL.

So, if Hitler could coach, you'd be fine with him? An extreme example...ridiculous example, but I just don't understand the idea that nothing matters except winning.

What would you think of someone who cheated you at cards(and got caught)? Would you think he was a good player? That he was much smarter than you and better at cards? Or would you think that they weren't such a good player and had to resort to cheating to have a chance to win? I find it very difficult to assume that you'd pat him on the back for just wanting to win at any cost. Much less give him your money and support him in the next tournament.

I don't think they can rightly interview him for a DC position since there's no HC in place right?
Seems like a workaround to the "ask for permission" thing

He is the Texans DC. Can't interview him for the same position.

He is Texans linebackers coach, not DC.
And that's why I said "Seems like a workaround to the "ask for permission" thing" meaning they CAN interview him for HC without asking for permission, even if there intention is to potentially work on him for a DC down the road

I don't know about life and death, but with regard to taxes, in 10 days time you can ask the president of the United States of America about cheating on his taxes. He's given himself a dislocated shoulder patting himself on the back for that. A large number of Americans and Russians elected him president despite his predilection for cheating.

But I digress. You're right, cheating in sports isn't the same thing. It is, or should be, more sacrosanct.

For that mater, Jenna Jameson could be head coach if she could deliver a SB win between blowjobs. Who the hell cares what they did before, we need a winner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't mind taking Jenna Jameson. Well on second thought, nah. 8-)

@mokleman, I totally get your take on cheating. There is really no place for it in society.
Life is hard though and it's amazing how often folks will take that advantage of an opportunity to get ahead. Do you declare every penny you make on your tax return? Don't answer but you catch my drift.
Now that doesn't really equate to what the Patriots allegedly did to us and others. There are other people directly affected by what they did so it's worse. But it's fundamentally the same.
And I find it odd that any and every case of an NFL team cheating somehow has the Patriots as a common denominator. As we all decided about Fisher, the head guy is the one calling the shots. I wouldn't want BB as he is likely the root of the evil empire, but his assistants would likely be on a higher road.
