The Rams last home game against the Bucs is in mid December.

Woah.

And my birthday is on Dec.15th. Inglewood will be breaking ground, PD on the other hand will be breaking wind.

Alex Spanos is the majority owner of the Chargers and is 91 years old. Not to far fetched for us to imagine he could die during this process of building a stadium. Which would set in motion estate taxes on his majority ownership. So that is another factor to consider.

Snagged this from another board. What does any of our resident economists think of this scenario? The tea in LA would go up in value but they would need to step on that new equity to pay the death/inheritance taxes.
If they stay in SD can they even gain enough equity to pay it. Or else be forced to go Chip and Lucia.

Isn't that why Chip and Lucia Rosenbloom had to sell the majority Ram shares to Stan? And how deep are Dean's pockets? Might he end up in the same situation?

Yes it is why along with disinterest.

I've read the Chargers are worth around $1.25 BB. Most of that is the value of the Chargers. So if they were to get hit with a 30%? death tax they might have to leverage the team some to pay it. That wont help the GS underwriters feel better about either project.

That stuff takes a long time to play out.

But i have heard one of the possible reasons Spanos seems so set on L.A. is he intends to sell in the not too distant future and he'd much rather get L.A. prices...

60% of the team and AG Spanos have already been transferred to Alex's 4 children, who each own an equal share of both businesses.

Is a interesting thought bro. Since Alex owns 37% and the club is worth 995 million now a move to LA could easily make them worth 2 billion. So the first 5.43 million would be tax exempt, however they would have taxes of 40% due on the remainder of his estate. At present his share of the team comes to 368.15 million which would amount to 145 million in death taxes. A move to LA if it does make the club worth 2 billion, his share would be worth 740 million and his death taxes would be 293.828 million. Which I only used what he owns of the Chargers so his taxes would likely be larger as I have not figured in any other holdings he might have. Fact is the Spanos family from all I have seen does not have that kind of available liquidity on hand so they would have sell off some asset to raise the cash. So a interesting thought for sure.

Thanks for the welcome :) Yea I was shocked since I was not a new member and had been there for a spell and even argued in general discussion with Ramsfan53? Or whatever his correct handle is. Anyway we had several discussions before and I always used my red before so was shocked I was now trolling and being disruptive by using red. The saddest thing out of all it for me though was the loss of Thor as he brought me there as well as 2 other boards he was a member on. He was good folk for sure and he was always a favorite read so his loss is what I find truly sad. Anyway thank ya so much for the welcome and letting me know which is the correct font so much appreciated bro :) Hooyah
