Well damn I hope not!

Right now you're in the sweet spot of having your hand-picked members plus their referrals. But if a bunch of pro-STL stragglers found their way in here and jumped into the discussions, you'd probably have your hands full and be faced with some tough decisions. The alternative would be to let it play out; but then you'd have a PD situation on your hands.

If I were ever to do it all over again (and I won't), I'd probably limit my forum to 50-100 *active* members who were there by invitation only. Once you pass the 500 mark, it's too much like work.

Understood. That's kind of why that thread was locked down. Too much tip-toeing around, too many veiled insults, and too much tension. And this is a better place for that discussion than that other pro-LA forum. Quite a bit more maturity here. I just hope when all is said and done that we can all enjoy a bit of normalcy again. That said, if they do move and the PD drops off the face of the earth ... well, that would just be surreal.

Plus you'd have to double your wall guards.

.

I'd never take-on the task of running a public forum, especially a fan forum. I totally get your comments about all the tough decisions one has to make once the forum grows. I think you were insane to take on that task, but I'm actually very glad you did and very appreciative.

WIth respect to the ROD LA discussion thread, I actually wasn't following it very closely at all. So, I guess I didn't realize there was such an issue until this week. I agree that things will be better when some level of normalcy returns. Any thoughts to creating a LA fans and StL fans sub-section on the site? I realize that this is counter to your original idea of having a "fan" forum irrespective of geography, but I think this might give the Stl fans a place to vent without fear of reprisal, and likewise a place for LA fans to celebrate without being offensive. It seems everyone needs a place to communicate without causing friction. Perhaps this couild be a temporary measure, until we get past the point of faux public indecision that's going on currently.

Did you start a thread about it or add this to the relocation thread?
It really has gotten tense over there. I dont know how I'd feel if I lived in St Louis but the tone there has gotten a bit rough. Seems like discussion is no longer possible when any "Pro LA" articles enter the fray.

Needless to say, that's why I love have RFU to come to. Nice to get different perspective

I started a new thread about the Roggin Farr radio interview.

I really haven't participated in the relocation thread at all. But I would love love love to say how happy I am about the move over there. But I've kept my mouth shut because I don't want to rile anyone up. Which is so unfortunate. Everyone there knows I've been a fan since they were in LA. So, why can't I express my happiness about the move? I've been a loyal poster since the site started. It's a shame.

That's why they shut down the relocation thread.

You certainly cannot blame them for feeling the way they do because I sure as heck know I did. If there were fan forums around in 95 and StL posters were getting giddy about the move there, I probably would have bit their head off too.
I'll sure be glad when this is over one way or the other,,, but more glad one way.

That's not my decision, but I seriously doubt they'd want to do something so counterintuitive.

Go back and look at the last 20 pages or so and say that the way the conversations have been going didn't have an impact on the locking of the page. It was locked last week for that reason.

I agree, that probably wouldn't make a lot of sense. This thing, in all likelihood, is gonna be over in a few months and then it will be about managing the fall out...

Here's what's being lost. Freedom of speech. I understand why the mods at ROD shut down that thread, and I don't agree with it. In doing so it forces folks who want to discuss those issues to go somewhere else, or just be frustrated because they have no where to go to voice their opinion or debate with others of a different opinion. I saw the way it was going in the "Kroenke" thread, and it needed strong MOD scrutiny, but did it really need to be shut down? Sure it got testy at times, but for the most part people were keeping it civil. 503 was doing a great job moderating. The cat is out of the bag, there will always be two camps now, and we need a forum where we can air our differences and come together. Sadly the MODS at ROD have forced their members to find another forum to do that. I will respect their decision and refrain from any relocation comments, but it makes me sad that a subject as important as this to ALL Rams fans from EVERYWHERE, have their freedom of speech denied. It raised emotions, and triggered debate, and that's exactly why folks should be able to talk about it. I hope the MODs over there rethink their decision and re-open the thread and let the chips fall where they may. It was the most looked at and posted thread in ROD's history, and you shut it down. Those folks at ROD who still would like to discuss relocation (or what ever else), I would welcome your debate here at Rams Fans United. Freedom of Speech, and you are entitled to your opinion, (and have a place to voice it).

First post here. Kinda' feel like Stranger in that I would like the Rams to move back to LA as I grew up with them, but really haven't (won't) post that at ROD.
However, while there was obviously spirited debate within the thread, haven't really felt any overt "division" in it's members.
(OT - like the choice of backgrounds - still cant decide on one).
