I know it’s probably petty, but it’s bs that the Rams are the “home” team if it goes against their normal home game lineup. For them to lose a true home game in what is likely a neutral location stinks. So Philly is the “away” team and keeps all their normal home game schedule AND loses on of their away games by going to a place that is highly unlikely to be anti-Philly.

Unless I’m reading something with the arrangements incorrectly.

The original report from an Australian paper said it would be Rams/Eagles, an Eagles home game.

But the NFL has now said it will be a Rams home game so it won't be the Eagles.

Someone has to be the home team in these international games. The Rams were the home team in Mexico but that game got moved to LA. The Rams have generally been the road team when they've played in London.

The original report also said the game would be in October but now playing it week 1 is a possibility.

Although the NFL did not specify when during the season the game would be played, O’Reilly indicated it would be most logical to schedule it as an opener.

Then it might well mean the Rams "volunteered" a home game as they could see it as an opportunity to expand their Pacific rim fanbase.

Some of the NBA and NHL teams that have done regular season games in Europe and taken that hit of losing a home game. But it's admittedly very different with a 17 game schedule vs 82 games.

-In the 80s and 90s the Pittsburgh Penguins played some games in Cleveland to try and extend their market.
-Not long ago the St. Louis Blues hockey team looked at putting their main minor league team in Kansas City. But the Hunt family "owns" that hockey market so one of their demands was for the Blues to play one or two regular season full NHL regular season home games in KC in their arena with them keeping the profits. That supposedly collapsed the deal.

I wouldn't be shocked at all if it involved the Denver Nuggets.

Ive been to both.

Ireland wins easily and would be much more motivated to travel for an Intl game had Rams had a game there.

Wonder if Rams had a say or choice.

The Steelers got the Dublin game because former owner Dan Rooney was the US Ambassador to Ireland.

Plus
-the Steelers are an Eastern time zone so the difference to Ireland isn't as pronounced
-it's a lot easier for the Rams to fly non-stop to Australia

Plus like I said in the other thread, it behooves the Rams to take a Pacific rim game and build the fanbase that direction.

Just NFL greed seeing another way to screw the Rams over. In case you haven't noticed over the generations there is a clear east coast bias in both collegiate and NFL football. Funny how the Rams don't get to play in Hawaii. A whole lot of Rams fans would travel to Hawaii to see a game vs someone like the Raiders or even Seattle. Both fan bases would travel well. The travel impact isn't near as severe going from the US to Europe vs going from the US to Australia. Hell, even the toilet bowl water gets turned around.

Besides that everything in Aussie is toxic. Almost all the snakes and spiders are dangerous as well as the fish, crocs in rivers, lakes, ponds, and ocean, and even sharks in lakes and rivers. Hell they even got spiders that use webs to catch and eat birds. Oh yeah, our crew chief on our dustoff was born and raised in Melbourne. He invited me to go on leave with him but started warning me about everything. Stonefish in the ocean pretending to be a rock. LOL Gawd what a place. Hell even the male platypus is venomous. Keep the damn players on the plane. I will say this though, the women can be stunning. (that's the upside) :roll2:

There's nowhere to play in Hawaii that would even get close to NFL standards. The old Aloha Stadium where the Pro Bowl used to be got shut down because is was structurally unsound.

The biggest football venue in the state is this 16,900 seat stadium. You really want the Rams playing a game here?

How does the NFL screw with the Rams so badly that you think the team are victims? Every team has to travel now.

It just makes logistical, marketing and time zone sense for West Coast teams to avoid Europe and either go to Mexico, Asia or even Australia. Then on the flip side for the East Coast teams to go to Europe.

Back in 2021 the NFL assigned home market areas to various teams. The Rams got Australia, China and Mexico:

Exclusive marketing rights to Australia is a coup for the Rams...
