Are we assuming Whittington is replacing Skow? I don't anything about him. But in a couple post draft analysis they thought he was a steal in the 6th round. The NFL site has him projected to be a bottom of the roster or practice squad candidate. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Sounds like a very good deal considering how little he factored into the Rams future. Whittington will probably replace Robinson next year. That's assuming Kupp returns to playout his contract in 2025.

I think in 2025 the starting WRs will be Kupp, Nacua and Whittington. Skowronek gave good effort and was a good teammate. But he didn't fit the evolved WR mold. Atwell probably gets kept on the roster for depth unless the Rams get a good trade offer for him. I'm surprised that the Chargers haven't made a trade offer for Atwell.

If Whittington emerges this year it will break the NFL again. It will make them rethink their spending 1st round picks on WRs. But it's a reason IMO that McVay has revised his offense to be more about ball control. It's why they can actually do very well with a Purdy like QB, who has accuracy and velocity on his mid zone passes and who can make good reads and decisions going through the route tree. Hell even Jimmy G fits that description except he has shown he's very inconsistent with his decision making and tends to make really bad decisions at crucial moments. But it opens the QB position to a lot more QBs. If Miami doesn't extend Tua he would be a good option for this offense. Another reason to wait on deciding on Stafford.

I think it's the reason they signed Jimmy G. because if they need a bridge QB he could potentially be in consideration. IMO it's why Jimmy G signed here because he could very well revive his career.

Elvis wrote:Pretty much a push as far as the cap goes. He counted $1mil, a $900k contract now moves into the top 51.

So we got Coop, Puka, ARob, Tutu as very likely top 4. Add Whittington and maybe Tyler Johnson and that's 6...

Do not sleep on Drake Stoops making the roster or Xavier from last year. Special Teams returners. Whittington will make it for sure

Yeah this is clearly a "we treat our hard working players well" move. We ain't saving much. He was probably WR#7. Now he might catch on.with somebody......Minnesota? Atlanta? Cincinnati?

I do wonder if the Rams will add a WR. They may have been interested in Mike Evans and/or Courtland Sutton, may have tried to trade up for a WR or TE. So maybe they want one more weapon if they can swing it...

They have 3 UDFA WRs, not just Stoops. Maybe one shows enough to be WR #6.
Los Angeles Rams: Drake Stoops, WR, Oklahoma
The son of legendary coach Bob Stoops, Drake Stoops’ sluggish 4.71 40 time will fit in perfectly with the Rams. (Cooper Kupp famously ran a 4.62; Puka Nacua hit only 4.57.) Quicker than fast and totally fearless, the 5-9, 186-pound Stoops is an outstanding route runner who turned down FBS scholarship offers to walk on at his dad’s former school. He wound up making 164 catches for nearly 2,000 yards in six years. He’ll do anything he’s asked, at max effort.
Ohio WR Sam Wiglusz
Sam Wiglusz played three seasons with Ohio State before closing out two seasons on the Ohio Bobcats. He stands 5-foot-11 and weighs 188 pounds. He does offer potential on special teams, having served as both punt and kickoff returner.
.
WR JJ Lapp- Cortland St. 6’ 1 190 lb
Was the deep threat for D3 National Champions last fall. Hauled in 147 passes with 32 touchdowns and averaged 18.7 yards per catch over 46 games. As you would guess, not a lot of film, but he appears to be of good size, length, and speed compared to his collegiate competition.
