He looks like a young Don Shula in the picture a couple posts earlier.

One of my favorite Don Shula memories is from the book "Always on the Run" about Larry Csonka, Jim Kiick and Mercury Morris. Csonka is running the ball down the field and wipes out a defender with a stiff-arm/punch and Shula is running up the sideline's alongside of him cheering. Then a yellow flag comes out for a personal foul on Csonka for the stiff-arm punch for a personal call and Shula instantly switches to cursing Csonka for drawing the flag!

Stu is saying this is big because he has a rapport with Earnest Jones, Shula says he'll decide whether to call plays from field or booth based on how it best works with Jones and the other players.

:D Me, Rams don't usually extend/pay their linebackers but maybe this means Jones is gonna be different and more of a focal point of the defense going forward...

They paid Wagner a ton. I'd like to think that was an investment. And that they keep/extend Jones. He can do a lot and seems to be becoming a leader.

I think Wagner was a bit of a Hail Marry after Vaughn signed with Buffalo. I'm sure Jones learned a lot from him but i've also wondered if it set him back a bit. Had Miller signed, Jones probably would've been the green dot in 2022.

Regardless, he's good, he's in horns, we'll see for how long. The Rams have said they have interest in keeping him around...

Elvis wrote:I'm not super excited about this one. The biggest reason is having been with the Rams the last 7 years, he doesn't bring any knowledge of outside defenses, no relationships with other coaches or players that might now want to come to the Rams. He's McVay's best friend from college and Jourdan says this will give McVay a lot of control over the system.

Could be great and i trust McVay a lot but some of this gives me a little pause...

I like the Desai addition, addresses some of the stuff i mentioned above...
