I'd point out (again) the guy who tried out for the Rams punter gig last year, Cam Dicker is also a place kicker who went 21/22 and made all of his XPs last year.

The guy everyone wanted to draft to replace Zeurlein, Rodrigo Blankenship is a FA. Matt Gay was on the street when we signed him. It's just not that hard to find a kicker...

Ummm in one word Sloman. This move bugs me, just because it wouldnt have been that hard to keep him and with a upcoming season with tons of questions marks, having a nails kicker I think is important. Guess we will see how easy it can be...

Not at that price.

This deal was massive so I get that we couldn’t pay that, but why not tag him in the first place?!!

Now we have to use one of our precious draft picks on a kicker which is always a gamble.

Right now it’s hard to see what the Rams are trying to accomplish. It’s not clear to me how the Rams are planning on improving so much offensively.

Heard Travis Rodgers say on his ESPN show today "The Rams Are Running Up The White Flag" I think he's right. Now I'm even more surprised McVay stayed.

Me too. In some situations the kicker is the most important player on the team. Just ask Scott Norwood or Blair Walsh. Of course this team isn't missing the playoffs or the Super Bowl with a missed kick.

A Jim Rome clone! Nothing controversial there, eh?

Just a reminder, Matt Gay was an erratic out of work kicker when the Rams signed him.

Also, new ST coordinator, not sure how that factors into who our next kicker(s) will be...

I get what you're driving at but why would the Rams be quitting? Are they that cap strapped that they can't field a team. Are they taking the year off?
At worst they might crank up a new 2 year rebuild plan after we all got desensitized last year. And our contracts came to roost.

This year is offense. Next year D.
But white flag surrender. Bull.

No it's the talking heads and fans who parrot them. "Not contending in 2023", "Running up the white flag", "Having a firesale". Some guys get their shorts in a knot every off season. The Rams are supposed to draft studs, sign studs and keep all the studs. Every time a good player goes elsewhere it's "that loss is gonna hurt". Watkins, Quinn, Ogletree, Saffold, Cooks, Fowler, Peters, Littleton, Brockers, Johnson, etc. Sometimes it's not even the loss of a player but a game or three.

"3 losses in a row, they're not a playoff team. 1 and done at best".
"They'll never catch Arizona for the division".
"Oh great....let SF into the postseason and now they have to beat them to get to the SB".
"ADs gone. He's got his ring"
"McVay is leaving for sure"
"Stafford's done. What's he got? 1 year left? 2 at best?"

Well certainly we'll have to wait to see how that last one plays out. But if the history of complaints.....and how they turn out holds.....he'll play another 3 or 4 years!!" :lol2:
