Moderator McVay's Immediate Future With Rams in Limbo POST #21 bremillard wrote:Peyton is talking to the Broncos. That's likely where he will go. I've had a feeling about McVay for the last half of the season. It didn't work and from what he said in August he was barely in anyway. Right now I'm feeling a little pissed. The team and the fans are/were all in with him and now this continued talk of his bailing? I say eff him. Yes it's his life, he owes Los Angeles nothing but we do deserve better than this roller coaster ride he has been taking us on. Let's face it. With or without him the Rams are in trouble for the next couple of years. Like D'marco said too many holes and no tools to fix them. The all in for '21 approach worked but the band wants their money.I dont think they’re as many holes as that. But If so, they are on O more than D so getting a defensive minded coach would be smart.MCV has a supermodel-esque wife. He is “Hollywood” a bit as well. A TV gig is far less demanding for a lot more money and he gets to be more of a star/personality than a coach who takes a back seat to star players. Sadly, AD and possible Staff will likely walk as well. I don’t see Kupp retiring. You can’t replace an AD. But you can do what the Titans and Bills do and have a number of young, rising players and above average vets in a rotational front system. Having really good edge pressure will also lessen the blow if AD dips. Losing Staff would be a serious blow. Signing Baker would be a drop off but not bad as a good bridge QB. JMO. I stay hardcore Rams regardless by ramman2999 2 years 5 months ago Total posts: 970 Joined: Nov 23 2022 LA Coliseum Veteran McVay's Immediate Future With Rams in Limbo POST #22 Man first of all I want to commend all you guys for a great conversation thank you for brining it and being so informative all great takes. Yes Brian Flores another great suggestion. Man I’m so torn with this. Yeah I feel a little angry and understand the anger. Just feels blindsided. It’s easy to front run when we win. But what about when the going gets tough like this. Do you jump ship???? Do you see Bill Bellicheck doing that??? Glad we put all our chips in and won our championship cause you never know. Maybe guys were tuning him out similar to John Gruden. Ironically Raheem Morris took over that team to. The flirting with the booth definitely has had an impact on the team. How can you ask for buy in when you can’t buy in yourself??????? So I see that side. I would tell him if I own the team take a month and then we’ll talk if he wants to retire fine. If not then no more talk about this crap. It’s L.A. plenty of coaches want to come here. One thing that was good he talked to us now he told us now so we can start conversation with Sean Payton. If we start conversation with Sean Payton we get a deal done. Also I can’t emphasize how much of a star I think Demeco Ryans is with the 49ers that defense is legit we can draft some good edge rushers. Hire a Wes Welker as offensive coordinator. He knows football. Damn I’m glad we kept Cam Akers when we were dealing with that Mcvay bull. He would’ve left us high and dry. I still think this team is a desirable team. I don’t care what anyone says. And I’ll always point my finger at this. You start a foundation with Donald Ramsey Stafford Kupp and Akers that’s more then enough for a coach to work with. But Mcvay has got to let us know soon is he with us. The Jordan Rodrigue piece was very puzzling she made it seem like this is going to be a every season thing. I do know this. After the reports last year and the new shit this year, I'm growing tired quickly of the Brett-Favre-esk BS. Didn't Madden say "when you're thinking about retirement, you're already retired"? Yeah, he was talking about players and it meant once you're there (thinking) you're not here (playing) and so you're no good to your team mates or coach. Same could be said for coaches. Geez, maybe that's why the Rams didn't look ready to play the Bills?I know this much. If he retires then in my mind he's a quitter, a wuss or an ego maniac. Or some combination of them. So go. Somebody will win the SB this year and next year and the year after. Sean McVay isn't the only guy who can do it. Hell, he's not even the only Rams coach to do it! If he stays....COMMIT and put the rumor mill to rest because it's extremely unproductive. For a lot of reasons.Reasons for retiring?"Losing hurts" Maybe he can't take it? Really? Come on man, that's lame. But if it's true grow the fuck up! Isn't it preached (by McVay as well as others) "it's extremely difficult to win in the NFL". So sometimes you're gonna lose. And you know it."A TV Gig is better"Yeah, no work involved there right? Flying all over the country, meeting with the teams on Thursday or Friday, preping on Saturday, etc. And for a guy who appears like he'd attack the most menial job with vigor, that's gonna be better? Let's not even get into the "won't he be great in that job" because I'm not so sure. He'll talk more than Collinsworth and probably a lot faster!"It's his wife/he just got married and wants to start a family"Admirable. But really? Even if they started having kids yesterday, it would be a few years before it's "a family". Or maybe it is his wife and he's got to keep the rumors he's thinking about quitting going in order to coach a few more years and win another Superbowl?AV is right, NOBODY KNOWS! Having been on the front line of the Vermeil hasty “retirement” I don’t see the point of shutting this discussion down. We need to prepare ourselves for all possibilities. 2 by ramsww 2 years 5 months ago Total posts: 759 Joined: Aug 11 2022 LA Coliseum Veteran McVay's Immediate Future With Rams in Limbo POST #28 bremillard liked this post I was signing off for the off-season until this came up. I won’t say eFF McVay but yeah, there’s the door IF he wants out. He’s done what even Vermeil could not do. 2 SB appearances and an LA Lombardi that stays in LA. It won’t work for Sean Payton and even though I believe we proved the depth we had all along but McVay had no faith in. Akers, Skowronek, Kyren Williams, Durant, Scott, McCutcheon, Powell, Tu Tu Atwell and plenty of depth on the OLine with Logan Bruss coming back, Troy Hill and Wagner staying on. Draft an OT and OLB and resign our own. Now, if McVay leaves I can’t see Stafford and AD, maybe Kupp, returning and none of that bodes well for locking up Baker Mayfield with Rahim Morris as HC (see TB history). Sean Payton will be long gone before the Rams work out an exit for McVay and does Snead move on too? As expected, it all hinges on McVay and his exit would likely cause Kronke to concede SoFi to the Chargers and hold the fire sale we all knew was coming if McVay ever left. McVay wanted a ring. He doesn’t want to grow old chasing the ghost of Bill Belichick. He wants to sit by the pool when he’s not collecting his cool 100 million on TV. What a scoundrel. lol.If he’s back, he has to be fully committed. If he’s gone, Thanks Sean and good luck. 1 by norcalramfan 2 years 5 months ago Total posts: 328 Joined: Oct 23 2016 LA Coliseum Starter McVay's Immediate Future With Rams in Limbo POST #29 PARAM liked this post Love the guy as our coach, but if he wants to be a diva and leak his desire to being a "talking head" for the NFL to Schrager and doesn't want to stay and see this thing through then just fucking leave. So should we worry about it as fans? Fuck no! Been following the horns since the Coliseum had a Roman playing there. This has been the case since last year. When it happens we don’t know, but we will either find out in short order or it will hang over the team for another year. We are all just guessing on the likelihood he leaves now or later. I see no harm in fans giving their opinions on what they think will happen. If they want to worry, that’s their prerogative. Bill Cowher retired and then went into the media, but did not mentioned before retiring. McVay is indeed a great HC but 6 years does not equal a long and illustrious career like Cowher, Walsh, Gibbs, Noll, Shula, Landry etc.....not even close. 1 by PARAM 2 years 5 months ago Total posts: 13211 Joined: Jul 15 2015 Just far enough North of Philadelphia Hall of Fame McVay's Immediate Future With Rams in Limbo POST #30 Might eventually fall into that "flash in the pan" catagory if he leaves. Much like TGSOT. But if he leaves now, that's not something he's concerned about anyway. Been following the horns since the Coliseum had a Roman playing there. McVay: 77-49, 2 Superbowls, 1 Lombardi............Doubt at your own peril Reply 3 / 32 1 3 32 Display: All posts1 day7 days2 weeks1 month3 months6 months1 year Sort by: AuthorPost timeSubject Sort by: AscendingDescending Jump to: Forum Rams/NFL Other Sports Rams Fans United Q&A's Board Business 311 posts Jul 01 2025
