Max,
I will throw my lot in with you max....right here.
I started this Trench Warfare thread with the OP about Dick Butkus and toughness for a reason....because I knew TENN was a physical team on both their lines. I assumed our D was tough enough to stand up to the Titans....and IMO they were! 2.7 YPC for TENN RBs! 8-) Less than 200 yds Total Titan Offense allowed, with TENN punting 5 times. :idea2:

What I did NOT know was how our OL would perform against a tough physical Titans D.
Well.....now we know. :oops2: :arrow2: :(

Guys who want to defend the TuTu pick are the same guys who defended keeping Aaron Kromer as our OL Coach, were the same guys who refused to acknowledge that we missed the 2019 Playoffs because Allen & Noteboom were no match for Saffold and Sullivan, even though Whitworth said as much in a post-2019 Cowherd interview.

Their technique of debating/arguing is to muddy the water. IE. in 2019, we missed due to Gurley's knee, or due to Zurlein's missed FG in Seattle, or Taylor Rapp's brainfart in SF on 3rd & 19, etc etc

For last night's loss, those guys want to spread the blame to:
Stafford suddenly contracting Goffvid Virus;
McVay's stubbornness to stick to his gameplan (aka The Chris BrokenRecord Collingsworth Theory);
Defense yielding too many penalty yards to Titans;
yadda, yadda, yadda

Those of us who look at the root cause of the plane crash last night....
you know, like Stafford's 5 sacks and 11 (Eleven per ESPN.com) QB Hits :shock2: , and his passes being batted down at the LOS like spiked volleyballs....
yeah, those of us that opine that maybe our OL, and especially the IOL, were manhandled by a physical Titan D Line who mostly rushed just 4 guys all night....
we are the ones apparently that those TuTu guys are going to LTAO about. :roll2:

ME: Yeah, I admit that I complain about shortcomings in the Product which Rams Management Of The Day puts out onto the field.
Yeah, yeah and I also further admit that I wanted Spagnuolo and Fisher....and even Tommy Prothro back in the day....terminated as Ram Head Coaches.

Following a NFL Team has it's roots in emotion and subjectivity....but that shouldn't stop guys who are paying attention to ask some rational questions, and maybe even ask some embarrassing questions of Team Management IMO, regarding those specific shortcomings.

To wit, in my Titan Loss PlaneCrash Postmortem, it was the IOL that
WAS THE PIECE OF ERRANT METAL ON THE RUNWAY, (Ram IOL physically outmanned)
THAT BLEW THE RAMS CONCORDE TIRE APART DURING TAKE-OFF, (early QB pressure, back-to-back sacks on first Ram drive)
WHOSE HIGH VELOCITY RUBBER PARTS PUNCTURED THE FUEL TANKS, (2 catastrophic picks)
THAT CAUSED THE FIRE, THAT TOOK OUT THE TWO PORT SIDE ENGINES, (14 point deficit)
THAT CAUSED THE UNRECOVERABLE LEFTWARD ROLL THAT CRASHED THE PLANE. :( (Loss to the Titans :( )

Pardon the aviation historical analogy.....but when the Rams lose a big game, some of us like to look at the root-causes of said loss. That does not make us less-loyal fans, nor Obsessive Compulsive types........it just means we are passionate in our pursuit of excellence for the NFL Team we have followed thru the decades, and MOREOVER IT SHOWS THAT WE ARE PAYING FUCKING ATTENTION!!! :idea2: :arrow2: :!2:

"Muddy the waters"?????

Nobody, absolutely nobody on any Rams site muddies the waters more to make a point than one local poster. Combine some Dangerfield humor, a few WWII references, some names from NFL circa 1960's and a few cliches to make the point...."I have been saying the O line sucks since 2019!!! I'm right I tell you. Here's the evidence. This is the FIRST tough team Los Ramos have played in 2021 and these guys sucked. Tampa? You call that defense and D line tough? All those pussies did was win the Superbowl!! If they were with the First Canadian Army during the Battle of the Scheldt, allied forces would have starved!!! They had guys like Butkus and Karras! No, just because these guys up front have played good in 6 out of 8 games, all it takes is one game to prove my point. Brian Allen Sucks. The 2018 Draft Sucked. Aaron Kromer Sucked. And I was right about all that....because I've seen it all, having been a Ram fan since Tony Guillory blocked Donnie Anderson's punt and Claude Crabbe returned it for an improbably comeback. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was on leave from Her Majesties Navy and was in the company of a couple of Polish lasses named Inga and Beata. We were just pouring some glasses of cognac to drown our sorrows over Los Ramos demise, when Guillory blasted through the line. I can tell you sorrow turned to celebration and I can't remember much more after that ;) ;) :arrow2: 8-) "

Jesus!!! Just say, "I want to be right.....I have to be right because I've invested so much into it.....and I want acknowledgement that I'm right. A pat on the back. An attaboy. I knew if I just waited around long enough, the O line would have a shitty game and I could revise my big uglies mantra!!! My 'Brian Allen Sucks and while we're at it let's get rid of Aaron....er, Kevin Carberry'. "

Funny thing about the Tutu pick is this......being so self absorbed about being right....it's natural to believe if McVay /Snead didn't pick Tutu, they would have taken Creed Humphrey or some other Behemoth offensive lineman, when in fact, it probably would have been another WR. I don't know if the kid is going to work out.....so far it don't look so good.....but to think "If not for the Tutu pick, we would have had a big beast center instead of Brian Allen" is somewhat of a stretch and quite an assumption. Those Kromer hating offensive line aficianados were demanding big uglies in the 2019 draft and with no 1st round pick, McSnead took a safety, then a running back. Same demands in 2020 and with no 1st round pick, McSnead took a RB and WR. Same demands in 2021 and with no first round pick, they took WR and ILB. There are some folks here who must have seriously thick callouses on their foreheads, eh? Meanwhile the Rams are 26-15 since those calls for big uglies!

On last night's performance by Matt Stafford, you thought that pick from the endzone was what, a good play? A good decision? That was a Carson Wentz play, not a Jared Goff play. The Jared Goff play was the second interception!!! Does that mean I think Stafford is a bum? No fucking way. He's great but he's also capable of some WTF plays every now and then (re: the pick when he underthrew DJax vs Arizona). And he showed that last night for all to see, in a big way from the end zone. But, yes, yes, I know, it was all Brian Allen's fault!!!

And that defense DID play great last night. So great, they decided they were tough enough to extend a few drives (3 first downs via penalty) with some stupid but quite self satisfying penalties and still keep Tennessee out of the end zone. Didn't quite work out that way but yeah, they played great from the neck down!! And just for shits and giggles, after picking off a ball at the 50, Jalen Ramsey decided to do his best impression of Marcus Peters and move the ball back 15 yards for the offense!! It was his damn ball wasn't it?

It was a total team effort last night from the head coach down to the special teamers. But yes, absolutely, the O line got manhandled. Don't confuse every sack, however, with bad O line play. IIRC, Stafford was getting the ball out on average under 2.5 seconds the first 8 games. He seemed to be holding the ball a lot longer than that last night. So even when the OL wasn't beat off the snap, it looked that way and it looked that way because...a) either he was confused by the coverage ....or b) our receivers weren't getting open. But of course, that's just reasoning though observation, without clouding my mind during the game with thoughts of Tutu. :D

In the big picture, I love what McVay has brought to our beloved Rams. I wouldn't trade him for Vrabel, even though I think Vrabel is a heck of a coach. I prefer McVay and his ceiling.

But it doesn't mean I have to defend everything he does. He makes mistakes just like every other great coach. Belichick has made plenty of big mistakes in the draft.

So when I say Tutu was a dumb mistake that doesn't mean I think McVay is even remotely dumb. I just think he made a mistake that he will have to overcome.

He sure looks like a dumb pick at the moment. He may end up being out of football by 2022. What the hell does it matter? They'll move on and put somebody in his place. They seem to trade 1st round picks but always find a way to collect 2nds, 3rds, 4ths and 5ths.

You underestimate Goff's range of gaffes. But recency bias has a way of doing that.

Here's Goff with a play that you won't want to remember....

HOW TO BE A PROPER RAMS FAN :P

Thanks....but I am going to just continue to bludgeon my way along like I've been doing since 1967! :lol2:

I read your Letter To The Corinthians above......sheesh, a tad long-winded for you, no? :?
Anyhoo....just to demonstrate I got into the minutiae of your theory, did you know that whilst the Tampa Bay D is very robust versus the RUN.....they are in the bottom third of the NFL in sacks with only 17??? :o :arrow2: :shock2:

Anyways.....we should all chill.
Los Ramos are gonna make the 2021 Playoffs and then anything can happen......,just like for the 1979 Rams who were 9-7. Right? :D

Read my HALF A CENTURY OF FRATERNITY thread, where I even offer to quaff beer with TuTu Atwell guys!!! :o :arrow2: :lol2:

P.S. So you actually googled "Canadian Army liberation highlights from World War II?? :shock2:
WOW!! :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Come on man. You know I'm not telling you how to be a Ram fan.....there are as many ways as there are old stories from the 60's you remember!!! Can tell you were a drinker and not a smoker!! No I'm not telling you how to be a Ram fan and you know it. I just feel when the shit hits the fan, you need to be talked off that ledge.

BTW, nice thread about having beers with people. We've done that and maybe that's why I often try to talk you off the ledge. So the only thing I learned about hostage crisis is 'get their attention'. I know and you know, you're not gonna jump. Who would you root for, the Bills? But it's nice to know somebody would try to prevent it just the same!

No, I googled Ardennes. :o Sorry, I'm more of a Pacific War buff. Palm trees and sandy beaches!!!

I'm a fan of all those guys who ran around with the chance to be eaten alive by sharks, if they weren't killed by an explosion or a kamikaze. I have a special place in my heart for the submariners. Don't know how they convinced themselves running around under the sharks was a great idea!!! One thing is certain, politics had them using faulty torpedos. Imagine what they could have done had someone listened earlier? I find the aviators interesting too. They knew if they were captured, they be killed and quite possibly eaten by some Bushido raving lunatic. But I gotta envy them too. Can you imagine what the night sky looked like back in the 40's? Or the jungles of palm trees and undisturbed islands? Photography inspiring! :oops2:
