You were too literal. Vanilla in this sense has no reference whatsoever to color. It just means plain, everyday, straight, commonplace, normal, conventional. Like when someone says an NFL offense is vanilla. Or in some venues people talk about conventional sex that conforms to conventional norms within a culture, and they call it vanilla sex.

I think gay people have to cope with homophobia. We breeders are in the majority and don't face anything equivalent. That's all. That was the only point.

Yes it's Pride Month. But at the same time the sports world is focused on the NBA playoffs, NHL playoffs, Olympic trials and baseball drama. June is the one time of year the NFL lets off the throttle and most coaches are taking vacation. If Nassim was trying to make this about himself and a draw for attention, he would have done it at the start of training camp.
