Gentlemen I don't think the Chargers are playing liars poker. At first they were, but now Spanos realizes he has the votes and IMO has convinced himself there is more in it for his franchise to move to Los Angeles. Now my hope is that in August, if it's agreed that is the case that ESK and Spanos work it out for Inglewood because I truly don't believe Carson with all that it faces can come to fruition, but I truly believe the Chargers want to leave San Diego now and because I want the Rams back in Los Angeles I hope Spanos and Stan can come to an agreement because Stan has the vision and Spanos has the votes IMHO.

I could see that playing out as well. It makes sense. I can't wait till August!

Spanos has enough votes to block. I doubt he has enough votes get approved. That is unless the league owners agree that a move to LA has to be done this year, then they might all go with the majority (if there is one) so not to 'hang the jury' so to speak. IMO this is a bit to large a decision to be so caviler about.
And ESK could put up a pretty big stink with potential legal RAMifications.

I'd rather see the Rams alone but will take them with the Chargers in a heartbeat. But will Stan? Especially if he has to share ownership of his stadium or even simply be forced to hit the LA scene at the same time. That worries me.

Again, from what I've been reading I don't think the StL project will pass muster. If the NFL want's to keep the Rams there for some reason, approving Carson is one way to do it. But StL is floundering and not all that solid looking forward, not doing StL 'right'. They are also skirting so many political issues (lawsuits) their whole proposal sort of stinks.

My biggest concern is that the league decides that they would rather give their (alleged) boy Spanos more time to make his play in Carson or SD and postpone the LA relocation precess for another year. That way no one loses (yet) and the individual cities have enough time to make the leagues decision for them. Sure there will be lame ducks flying around for another year and fan apathy in those 3 locale's will grow. I doubt the NFL want's that but I see postponement as a real possibility.

Thoughts?

Rams and Chargers in Inglewood. that's been the plan from day one. Stan and Dean are playing this out for a reason and that's to keep people guessing and hopeing (St. Louis and San Diego fans) their team will stay. It will put butts in the seats. Niether Spanos nor Kroenke want a final announcement that the Rams or Chargers are moving to LA until near the end of the season. This is all going to drag out til then.

I firmly believe Stan Kroenke and Dean Spanos have been planning together a move to LA for YEARS. They are friends. They play golf and have dinner together on a regular basis. They have a lot in common, they both own NFL teams and both are upset with their respective venues. The Carson site is a sham. Even if they bust ass to clean it up, it would still be two years down the road before construction could begin. I don't think anyone involved wants to wait that long. (Stan, Dean, NFL).

Bubba, do you think they are going to go to LA at the same time? I've read Stan quoted saying since he's footing the bill he wants to go first for a couple years to establish his brand in LA. That seems to me to be too much detail for a ruse.
Do you believe Spanos will be a part owner or a tenant in inglewood?

You know, when you get right down to it, Kroenke's actions have had a huge impact on Spanos. Spanos' actions, OTOH, don't seem to be having any impact on Kroenke. So who has the cards? Seems like Kroenke does.

This does all seem a bit like kabuki (or kayfabe as the kids say) where the players all know what's going to happen but are playing it out as if there's real drama happening. It's getting harder, but i'm still on the same page as bubbaramfan on that one...

Maybe Stan and Dean work out a deal in Inglewood and kick some relocation money to the Raiders up in Oakland? That could work can't it?

One thing that would help Stan and the development guys (Stockbridge) in Inglewood is if there's another team there. They'll be 20 games now instead of just 10, more revenue around the development. Stan might want to be the only team in LA but LA is big enough for 2 teams.

It's intresing, Fred Roggin so far has been right on this saga and he has said for months that Dean and Stan will work out a deal in Inglewood.

San Diego Chargers’ Reason for Rejecting Ballot Measure for New Stadium is Weak

By Jeric Griffin @JericGriffin on June 17, 2015

The San Diego Chargers made headlines on Tuesday when they released a statement rejecting the city of San Diego’s proposal for ballot measure for their new stadium plan. While this definitely got the news outlets buzzing, it’s a pretty weak attempt by the Chargers to make it appear they’re actually set on leaving their home.

The city and county have proposed a new $1.3 billion stadium in Mission Valley at the site of the Chargers’ current arena, Qualcomm Stadium. The Chargers originally wanted a new stadium in downtown San Diego near Petco Park, but that ain’t happening. The proposal for the new stadium at the site of the current one is a solid plan, even though the Chargers made a frail attempt to shoot it down in their Tuesday statement:

“…[T]he Chargers have concluded that it is not possible to place a ballot measure before voters in December 2015 in a legally defensible manner given the requirements of the State’s election law and the California Environmental Quality Act.”

The team’s only reasoning behind this is its belief the plan won’t be found as “categorically exempt” from the CEQA. The problem with that argument is the city and county’s new stadium plan falls exactly under that classification because it involves the reconstruction of an existing structure.

Some will argue the additional plans for the site (i.e. hotels, restaurants, etc.) will keep it from being deemed categorically exempt from the CEQA, which is a relatively valid concern. However, a full review by the CEQA could be completed by October and then the vote could be held in January.

Even still, if the exemption is denied in court as the Chargers say could happen, the city and county could conduct an Environmental Impact Report (ERI) and have it back to a vote in roughly 90 days. The end result is still the same: A decision would be made by January.

Since the Chargers want something done ASAP so they can decide if they are or aren’t committed to moving to Los Angeles, having the vote in December if at all possible would be wise for the city and county, but one month later wouldn’t affect the Chargers as much as they’re letting on.

After all, the official window for NFL relocation doesn’t open until January anyway. Sure, the league could “open” it sooner to get the ball rolling, which it seems intent on doing, but that wouldn’t prevent the Chargers from taking on the plan to stay in San Diego or the plan to move to L.A.

The bottom line is the Chargers don’t really want to leave San Diego – that would be franchise suicide from a fandom standpoint – a but they also don’t want any other team moving to L.A. and they’re using that as leverage to get the best deal possible where they are, which is understandable. However, their latest reasoning is pretty weak, and if the NFL picks the L.A. project by most need as it says it will (that’s a bunch of hogwash), the Chargers don’t have a very good case at this point, assuming the city and county of San Diego do their due diligence on the CEQA exemption.

If the Chargers were to build a new Stadium where Qualcomm is, where could they play in the interim?

I believe the new stadium will go in the parking lot and the old stadium will become the new parking so the Chargers will play in the old stadium while the new stadium is being built and there will be no onsite parking for a couple years...
