Would you sign Colin Kaepernick?

Yes, if the coaching staff believed him to be the best available option to back-up Jared Goff.

Yes. It would make an important statement, even if his skill level is questionable at this point.

No. Even if he is arguably the best option, the attention/distraction he'd bring to the team would override the benefit.

No. Even if he is arguably the best option, I don't like him or his approach, and would not want him on my team.

No. I don't care about his politics or persona. I simply don't believe a QB who has been idle for years could succeed.

He had plenty of opportunities,,,

He turned down the 9ers contract,,,

He turned down coming in as a backup with Denver...

The NFL gave him a chance to show what he can do,,,

But he goes move the practice to some high school field,

to make some kind of politic point,,,,

If he was so dedicated as coming back into the NFL...

Like any other player in this league,,, show me what you can do...

work your way up again..... but he doesn't want that...

I wouldn't waist a dime on him.... He would just be trouble in the locker room...

No but hell no....

some of your reasons/clichés could be an indication of a possible future personnel decision mistake, but none of those reasons prove anything more than the successes of his past guarantee acquiring a great talent. Some decisions are going to be mistakes (like Greg Robinson in 2014 and the 11 other players that were drafted before the 13th overall pick) and some decisions will be home runs.

Even in a best case scenario of all of the check boxes regarding his ability and heart ... the one missing question of the poll that I want to check is will he fit the scheme that is built around Goff? I say no.

I think it would be counter productive to bring any gifted player where the Rams would have to change the entire scheme and some personnel should Goff be unable to play for a few games.

His political stance is fine by me. I just don’t think he has the skill set McVay wants in a QB. He has been a one read then scramble guy to my eyes. That doesn’t fit a timing/route heavy, multiple read offense. Now maybe I am way off and he reads defenses well. I just never saw that.

Also, we have the kid from Virginia who is an option-type QB and MUCH cheaper than CK. But, clearly not ready to be the #2. Is Wolford better than CK at THIS time in THIS offense? That is the real question to me.

I’d rather have Cam if we are getting a vet at QB2.

Are you trying to say of my reasonings/cliché,,, that I'm better than everyone else from giving my assessment? I think not,,, those are just my personal opinion... everybody has one...

My reasonings are based on CK past behavior.....and I didn't even get to his football abilities,,,

In which another poster already stated he is a one trick pony,,, can only get by on his first read, if nothing is open,, he is off and running...

If his skills set was so high, he would of been signed by some team a long time ago...

The minute Harbrough left for the college ranks,,,

and other teams caught up to his style of play, CK went down the tubes...

When McVay first came on board,,, his moto was "WE NOT ME"

CK doesn't come close to being that....

To me,,, he a joke...

dick..you said exactly what i think...

i may have reservations about CK's political stances, and his actual ability to be useful, and physically able to win games, but if our coaching staff says yes, then i say yes...

this isn't about development, it's about winning...

just win baby...

You gave a nice "objective-style" list of things to support your subjective conclusion. Your opinion is valid.

However, someone could give an "objective-style" list which is the antithesis of things you listed and come to the exact opposite subjective conclusion, their opinion would be valid too.

Just a difference of opinion between the two arguments. Should the glass of whiskey be half-full or half-empty?

My opinion is neither.

Answer 5 basically says, even if the coaches think he's a good option at backup QB, i don't think he is. At least that's how i read it.

In this hypothetical, i would defer to McVay. I mean QB, passing, offense, that's kind of his thing.

But it is hypothetical. In reality i can't imagine the coaches would think CK would be a good fit in our system.

But if they did...

Your opinion is a knock on mine. You didn't intend to insult me. You just have a strong conviction in yours ... as I do mine.

Your point is Kap valid.

Cheers!
