Agreed, IMO it is all about picking BPA, but Snead tends to move around the draft board to fit their needs. Like SAFER mentioned, I dont want to use a high draft pick at RB, we have bigger needs to use our draft capital on, unless they believe he is a significantly better than what we have and can change the complexion of the offense.

With youngsters Samson, Obo and Polite out there who are earning more time, I think we are pretty flush at that position right now, as opposed to Mlber; Oline and wide out.
Rushers usually take 2-3 years to develop (unless your name is Bosa) and we now have three talented guys who aren't yet fully there.

Floyd could be the one we're lookin for. But he's one a one year deal. Wouldn't be a bad idea to draft someone who could sit for a year and take over. That position needs to be very athletic with some talent to be a top rusher. Elite talent isn't usually found in late rounds. But you can find a raw talent on day 2 that can be coached up and be ready a year later.

Cuttin' our top RB and tradin' our speed receiver makes me wonder if they aren't reloadin' but clearin' up salary for another run in a couple years. Especially when you look at the dead cap hit for those two.

Like Obo? Or Polite? Guys who sat around last year and got in as the year wore down. I don't doubt for a NY second, these guys running this thing believe the Rams are going to be in the thick of things in 2020. You don't trade 2 first round picks for a CB who's going to display his wares on an 9-7 team and an 8-8 or 9-7 team the next year. Hell, why pay 13 mil and a huge new deal coming up for that? Or Donald? Or Goff?

They want to find 3 or 4 contributors with their first 5 picks. They expect to. Not necessarily starters, though that would be an added plus. So it's not going to be "lets look for an Edge in the 2nd" or "lets look for a WR in the second". It's going to be here's our top 4 biggest needs........the best one that fits one of those needs with the best value on their board, goes off the board #52 (if they pick there)...then the next one at #57 and so on. We have to see how things unfold. Could be a damn good WR there...or a damn good RB....or a damn good Edge....or a trade down a few spots.....etc.

But we're all guessing what those top 4 or 5 needs are based on what we think, they think of the guys on the roster. And we don't have a clue in reality. But if I were a betting man, I'd bet they don't trade Cooks and take the big hit IF the WR class wasn't so deep. So naturally, you're going to want to get the best you possibly can at that position. Same with RB. They don't want to rebuild, they want to retool.

Here's some thoughts on the upcoming COVID-19 NFL DRAFT:

We re-signed FA's Whitworth and Blythe....WHY? Because they are the best at their NFL positions per PFF???!! :roll2:
NOPE! Because they already know the McVay System, and that COVID-19 NFL TrainingCamp//2020 PreSeason "program" is GONNA BE greatly abbreviated. :idea2: SO,
smart Front Offices (like ours) are gonna reckon....."If there are guys out there who already know Sean McVay's multiple-formation (read, COMPLICATED) Offensive Scheme formations and plays...…..let's sign them up ASAP!!! :idea2:
BTW....regarding the above......that's also probably the reason we are not going to jettison Rams 2019 RT Havenstein, eh!!! :idea2:

Another assumption:
Jared $100MillionGuy Goff is our QB for the foreseeable future. :idea2:
We've seen Good Goff versus 2018 Vikings and Chiefs games! :idea2:
And, we've ALSO seen BAD Goff in SBLIII and 2019 Steelers game, etc etc
The difference between Good Goff and Bad Goff?

Ram OL performance!! :idea2: :arrow2: :!2:
...both in opening holes for Rams rushing game//McVay PlayAction SetUp…..AND in protecting Goff and giving him enough time to find open receivers, without opposing defenders bodies draped around Mr. Goff. :idea2:

We need Interior OL help for 2020.

Picking a OC or OG on Day Two of the 2020 NFL Draft would be the smart move IMO.

Others may disagree.....but our QB Goff is not good when he's harassed! :idea2:

This stuff about a WR on Day Two is hooey IMO.
We lost Brandin Cooks 2019 "production" of 583 yards receiving & 2 (TWO) TDs! :roll2:

In my best Blanche DuBois (from StreetCar Named Desire)….
"Oh, Stanley....how in God's Green Earth are we ever gonna replace THAT Brandin Cooks amount of output?????!!!! :(

ME: Easy!!! There are only SO many passes to go around.
Aren't we gonna run a lot more Two-TightEnd Sets in 2020 per McVay???
So those 2 TE's, Everett and Higbee, will combine for that 583 yards of receiving from Goff.....AND MORE!!! :idea2:

…..and wait, I have more!!! :lol2:

Also, as Confusius says:
"In Draft Year with beaucoup de Wide Receiving Stars everywhere....
it is best to keep your powder dry and snag a Marques Colston in Round 7!!" 8-)

I think 2 positions that get overlooked are safety and kicker.

I don't see them picking either early but both positions are a need.

After JJ and Rapp the Rams have nothing for a 3rd safety.

Again, not thinking they pick either position early but both are still needs.

The Rams were a couple of made FG's from the playoffs last year.

I would think they would want to improve on that not go the other way.

Canuck, whadya think of my idea of moving up in the 2nd to get LT Jackson out of USC? I think all of the other top LT's will be gone in the first round. He's projected to be a quality LT, yet he's "only" 6'5", so he could compete at OG this year too. Then, hopefully, when Noteboom gets healthy those two can compete to start at LT next year.
I know you keep pounding the drum for Oline in this draft. Do you think Jackson would immediately help our depth at both OG and LT? Just curious...........

In 2018 we selected a promising OT, after all the "top LTs" were gone.....his name was Joe Noteboom…. and he was gonna be our LT OF THE FUTURE and at only 6'5" and with Aaron MiracleWorker Kromer's expert cross-training techniques, Noteboom was gonna be our 2020 starting LG! :idea2:

How'd that movie turn out for the Rams huh??? :roll2:

No, no.....I am saying we need help in the Interior of our2020 OL.

So as posted in another thread....my Magnificent Eight for 2020 are:
EZRA CLEVELAND, BOISE STATE
SOLOMON KINDLEY, GEORGIA
JOHN SIMPSON, CLEMSON
LLOYD CUSHENBERRY, LSU
TYLER BIADASZ, WISCONSIN
BEN BREDESON, MICHIGAN
LOGAN STENBERG, KENTUCKY
DARRYL WILLIAMS, MISSISSIPPI STATE

If McSnead draft any one (or two) of those guys above.....I will be most pleased! :idea2: :arrow2: 8-)

What a great question.

Honestly I don't think the Cooks today is worth a third round choice. I think it more likely an upgrade in this draft.
