I had a strong feeling that Brockers would not be on the Rams next season. He seemed like being a position that free agency takes these kind of players away.

The Jersey shown in this picture he was wearing was up for auction and around this past Christmas and I thought about going for it. I have always like Brockers.

Then backed off. He would have left and I had an historic jersey from a player that split his time with another team.

Then this happens.

Now I REALLY regret not going out and getting that Jersey.

I am really happy he is still a Ram.

But Brockers graded very high against the run.
If they can be stout against the run on early downs.. they can play more games with personnel on pass downs, imo. They also have a great secondary, imo.

Brockers is a great team-mate and locker room guy, and he showed some slight improvement last season after a brutal 2018, but even on those rush downs since losing so much weight, he isn't the same. So yes, we are somewhat improved in run defense having added Robinson, but that lack of a 5T DE who can also apply significant pressure on passing plays is missing and puts increased pressure on our OLB's which are now minus Fowler & Matthews. The Rams may still draft a 5T later for developmental purposes, my hope now is that Marquise Copeland takes a big step up the depth chart.

WTH is this team doing? HTH does this make the team better?

The Rams run defense has been soft and sucked eggs every since he has been here.

2018 season they allowed over 5ypc vs the run which was bottom of the barrel and showed slight improvement this season except when it mattered.

This dude has been right in the middle of a defensive front that gets pushed around and gave up 243 yards rushing in a game where they were playing for their playoff lives.

How many yards did Baltimore hit em for. Not to mention giving up what 145 points over three games.

F this buddy buddy shit this team needs to get stouter at the poa and start disrupting the line of scrimmage.

Brockers gets too easily man handled and pushed off the line and can’t eat while AD is getting double and triple teamed.

A guy drafted top 15 in the 1st rd averaging 3 sacks over a career and not neutralizing the point needs to be upgraded.

Here are some facts on Brockers.

Fisher drafted him to be the Haynesworth in the middle of the defense and he failed. They had him gain weight then lose weight and moved him around to try and get penetration out of him and he faltered.

So Fisher realized his mistake and drafted Donald.

It was past time to move on from this JAG and give someone else a shot, but sentiment ruled and they bring him back.

Good locker room guys are nice and all but that ain’t what they’re getting paid for.

I’m not going to continue laying out thousands of dollars for this BS.

If you ain’t getting better you’re getting left.

This team is descending.

Bank it.

No one knows, at least I don't. Throwing money at over the hill guys. As much as I hate to say it, I agree with your last statement. Same guys, same results.

This surprises me that A) we see that much need at LDE and B) we would use so much of our slim cap space on this position.
Actually, after reading that we only guaranteed $7mil, I'm fine with this.
Anyone else think we'll run a 4-3 set on occasion?

I don;t think they will run much 4/3. But the 5 they have now--AD, Gaines, S-D, Robinson, Brockers--not only gives them a lot of options for rotating guys in the 3/4, but it also gives them about the best 4 or 5 man 3rd & short and goal line DL they've had in a long time.

You know who didn't? Littleton.
Robinson was elite against the run in 18.

Well when Brockers was drafted in 2012, the Rams posted the #15 rush defense (117.5 y/g; 4.3 ypc). His second year the Rams were #9 (102.9 y/g; 3.7 ypc). They drafted Donald in 2014 and finished #14 (110.3 / 4.2). In 2015, #20, 113.8/4.0. In 2016, #16, 103.8, 3.9. That's middle of the road, not great, not terrible.

After Wade came and switched them to a 3/4 they were #28 (122.3; 4.7), #23 (122.3; 5.1) and #19 (113.1; 4.1). Those numbers were terrible.

I don't know. Maybe with Patterson in the middle, Brockers and Donald next to him we might see something different vs. the run? A couple of beefy ILBs would be nice too.

Hey Gentlemen, been a while. All I can say is the Rams going into the new stadium sure aren't being very aggressive. I was hoping they could have pulled off a trade of some value for Gurley, but losing him for zero return was pitiful. After signing Floyd and Robinson there still wasn't much to be excited about since losing Littleton , Fowler and Clay. But regaining Brockers after signing Floyd and Robinson gives us hope to finally being strong up front. I just don't get why they didn't go after Suh again. Only 8 Mill he signed for with Tampa, and would have been a better sign IMO than both Brockers and Robinson. He would have been gone next year when the Rams start getting cap and draft relief again. But Brockers will do a standard job like always. We need Linebackers badly!! Just my two cents worth..
