Weddle? Really? And did you see the special teams this year?
This is the time of year where the cards win the division, Hopkins is a stud but that defense, but they shoulda beat the niners so who knows.

Right now i'm liking 6'4" 295lbs. DE James Lynch out of Baylor. He had 13.5 sacks in 2019 and has been gaining traction since coming in second for all defensive linemen with Sparq's. We might even be able to trade our #52 pick down a few spots and get him later in the round.

Scouting Report:

Rare defensive line prospect coming out of college experienced in the 3-4 scheme. Played on the edge at Baylor, and has the length and base to continue as a DE in a 3-4 at the next level. Is explosive off of the snap and overpowers linemen by using a solid base along with a number of developed arm techniques. Could move to the inside in a 4-3, especially one that covets one gapping pressure. Has the wingspan and lower body strength to also hold up against the run and maintain his gaps.

Dude, damn god you are here. Love your eval insight.

I’m liking a guy already in our roster.
Morgan Fox.

That said, I hope the rams are highly focused and target oriented. Go after the 3-4 guys you really want using the 6 picks you have and be aggressive with the UDFAs after the draft. We really don’t need a lot of players. We need 3-4 impact players-starter and/or rotational

And that is a tall order.

In another post I was pointing out that Brockers & Fox carried very similar stats at 5T when it came to pass rushing, not really something you want to see when considering Brock was pulling down 7 to 8 times the money. The Rams could get by with Fox playing 5T on passing downs and rotating Robinson in on rush plays, but that won't do much to pull some of the pressure off of Donald, where keeping Robinson next to Donald & having a solid 3 down lineman at DE who can apply greater pass rush pressure will. Our aim should be higher than to just get by though imo. Fox has been a decent situational rotational player off the edge, but I can't see him functioning as a 3 down lineman, and he certainly won't make up for what we lose statistically as a pass rusher with Fowler now gone and us not knowing what Floyd might bring to the table. Fox will also have a bit of competition in camp with Lawler returning from IR and the young Marquise Copeland who had a pretty good pre-season last year and ended up on the practice squad.
There only remains two big draft items on my wish list for our defense this off-season, an excellent 5T DE, and an ILB.

Fair enough. But the 5tech is an edge setter, run defender, and outside in pocket pressure man way more than a pure pass rusher. The OLB are the pass rusher, especially in the under front. The 5 tech should be gout at slants, twists stunts from an athletic standpoint. But his job is not “get the QB” at the cost of losing contain.

Is also agree with your “targets” but I do want to add another quality RB and developmental OT. But, I’d be happy grabbing your 2 targets.

Don’t sleep on Polite at edge either. Not that you would.

Yes, I fully agree about 5T responsibilities, and that's pretty much why Fox will always be more of a situational DE as he's really a hybrid DE/OLB like Lawler, and size may hinder them some defending against the rush.
Learning his craft under the Fanzio tree, our new DC Brandon Staley comes from a system which employs several DE's in the 280 - 290 lbs. range, and they accumulated some 18 sacks. Brockers & Fox managed 5. I suspect the Rams will use their new big man Robinson in a similar fashion as Purcell is used in Denver. Other than Copeland, the Rams really don't have anyone that stacks up physically like those Denver DE's, and this is why I expect the Rams to draft someone of a similar nature, and with a pretty high pick.

Funny that you mention a RB, OT and Polite, as I did the same in earlier posts today. I've got OT Niang as a 3'rd rd. hopeful & AJ Dillon as a 4'th round RB prospect. And the competition at reserve or for rotational OLB's should be something fierce with Polite, Holland, Carraway & Patrick fighting for playing time. Patrick will likely also be competing at ILB. I've got Floyd, OBO and Ebukam already set outside, but let the games commence for the next man up.

Todd Gurley is an ungrateful Asshole who is unappreciative of the Rams giving him a generous Contract far before they had to. He also disappeared and choked in our NFC Championship Game. What he has to say about ANYTHING means nothing to me. Hes a piece-of-shit as a person.

PARAM wrote:But most of our "devastating losses" were on the defensive side of the ball.....a defense that couldn't stop Tampa, Seattle 1, Baltimore, Dallas or SF 2.

Remember that fact everyone espoused when Wade came to the Rams? "Every team he's joined as the DC has gone to the postseason". Well here's another one. The last 4 defenses he ran got better in the rankings the year he left except for 1. Atlanta #32 to #14, San Diego #23 to #14, Houston #7 to #16 and Denver #4 to #3. So not only does he change the teams fortunes when he joins them, he changes the defenses fortunes when he leaves.

Exactly. The biggest losses were on a defense that was pretty bad at times. Maybe we needed a few "devastating" losses on that side of the ball.

Gurley is the only loss on the offensive side. How hard is it going to be to replace 857 yards and 3.8 yards per carry?

We're going to see these kinds of articles. And some will take it as gospel. 2020 hasn't happened yet and they already fell apart? I guess someone got tired of writing on the coronavirus. These guys all have opinions on every team and most times they're wrong. Whether its favorable or negative.

So why play the season? Since this idiot internet blogger has declared that we will be the worst team in the league we might as well give up.

Ridiculous.

Simple, the team doesn't appear a sexy as it did and the cap / draft pick sitch is not as favorable as many others. Easy to see why doom is the prognosis from afar. I have a feeling those detractors will be proven wrong though.

Well, he got what he wanted. People are reading it and responding to it. The idiots over at the STL PD forum are creaming their pants over this. Rams forums are complaining about it. Meanwhile, he gets to sit back and enjoy all the clicks and views. Its not like anyone's gonna bring this back early next year when they're in the playoffs and far from falling apart.
