We will be watching the NFC standings as well as the NFC west every week to see where we are seeding wise. Right now, we are the 8th seed. Panthers, Vikings, Hawks all in front of us. Just need to keep winning and let the rest take care of itself.

Yes, it makes quite a difference with the entire division above the water line. It sets up for what promises to be an interesting December.

Two observations:
1) The Dolphins point differential, 28, is mighty tight for an 11-5 team.
2) The AFC East was in its glory days with three teams over .500.

Bumping this:

A win is a win but, we just don’t look like a very good team. Average really. We are the 7th seed if the SF/Car game holds. We are battling the Vikings and Seahawks for the final WC as it sits now and the half way point. I think we can only afford to lose 2 games the rest of the way and that is going to be a tall order.

Nothing about today’s win was encouraging.

You can't do any better than a win. There are no "yebbit, we didn't impress anybody doing it". That's the same as (during the Linspagisher era) saying, "we lost but it was close and we almost pulled it out". All that matters is the W or L. There are no extra points for effort or demerits for not putting up 38.

Not feeling the ennui, we just beat a team by 2 TDs in London.

Now, if anyone wants to feel sad about how well the Niners are playing, i won't fight them on that...

It’s a combination of the two actually. Add the Seahawks and Vikings to that mix as well. Ya not playing “up to the standard” and Not playing as well as those teams. I did state “a win is a win” to start the thought, however.

No, it was not an impressive win. But I've seen plenty of games this year where favored teams were not that impressive in wins. Seattle beat those two 1-15 teams by a total of 8 points. We beat them by a total of 41 points. Patriots played a 2 win Browns team and only scored two offensive TD's. One of those came on an 11 yard drive after a Mayfield INT.

We're 5-3. Still very much in the hunt. Two winnable games coming. We don't have to be hitting on all cylinders to beat the Steelers and Bears. We win those two and we're 7-3 going into the Ravens game on Monday night.

Its not like the old days where you could cross out certain games that we knew we had no chance. We're capable of beating anyone on the schedule. Odds are we won't win them all. We just need to win enough and beat the right teams. Mainly teams in our division. I don't know if we will but I know we're plenty capable.
