.....and, like I stated earlier, not all turn overs are the same and the impact of each varies greatly. Assume it’s bad when you have more than 2 a game or you have 2 more than the bad guys - you lose more of those games than you win, conventional wisdom says.

Now, teams have found Goff’s and MCV’s weaknesses, areas/ issues that give them problems. Great leaders constantly work on their weaknesses and find ways to greater exploit their strengths. This is what will be required if both to reach the highest level. A natural product of that work, if successful, should be fewer or at least fewer costly turnovers.

Goff and Rams responded to a bad Miami debacle with a couple good games. There is no reason to think they can't do it again.

Here's the tale of the tape for the "turnover machines".

Wentz: 19 (56; 2017-20) 51 GP
Goff: 14 (62; 2017-20) 58 GP
Cousins: 14 (58; 2017-20) 58 GP

Wilson: 13 (43; 2017-20) 59 GP
Carr: 12 (56; 2017-20) 59 GP
Ryan: 9 (55; 2017-20) 58 GP
Dak: 7 (50; 2017-20) 53 GP

The class of the NFL?

Brees: 5 (23; 2017-20) 51 GP
Rodgers: 6 (26; 2017-20) 50 GP

Confirming that he has turned it over A LOT. Yet, our team record is still quite good. If he can play like the class of the NFL guys the rest of the way, I like our chances to go far in the playoffs. If he stay at his mean, we probably don’t get further than second round. If he trends like Mia and SF, we won’t make the playoffs at all.

That’s a crazy curve. Hopefully he is at least 1 standard deviation ABOVE the mean - with above actually meaning fewer TOs. In other words, here’s hoping he plays like the class of, not an ass.

Not only does he have the most turnovers of that group but he has the most wins (40-18) and he's the only one from that group to get to the Superbowl in the last 4 years.

Just to be clear,
Goff: 14.< career seasonal average of Goff gaffs?
(62; 2017-20) < total career turnovers in displayed years?
58 GP < no brainer.

Quite a difference from top to bottom. So many metrics when analyzing a football team or players. Funny how the old eye test seems to stack up well..

No 14 is what he has this year.

Here's his int/pass att:

2017: 1 / 68.1 att
2018: 1 / 46.8 att
2019: 1 / 39.1 att
2020: 1 / 40.3 att

Here's his turnovers per game:

2017: 0.67 / g
2018: 1.06 / g
2019: 1.32 / g
2020: 1.27 / g'

He needs to improve in both areas.

yep, and as i mentioned before, 50% of goff's turnovers have come in 2 games, which is a helluva lot better than spreading them out, for example, here are goff's and brady's game-by-game tunovers this season.

altho goff has 2 more than brady i would much rather have goff's turnover numbers than brady's... why? because goff has turned the ball over once or less in 73% of his game, which bodes well for winning, while brady has turned it over once or less just 58% of the time.
