yep, spotrac messed up, and have since corrected it (mysteriously about 10 minutes after i tweeted them to ask for clarification), no early christmas for the rams, they will have to eat goff's $22.2 mil in dead cap in 2021, the world makes sense again... moreover it's back to holmes swinging a pretty nice deal out of the gates as the lions new gm, and back to the rams being $35m over the cap, about $8m more than they were before the trade.

Thanks for clearing this up. There was a brief couple of hours where this deal seemed like a bases loaded home run. Now it’s a double I guess. But at least we have a runner in scoring position now.

Per AJDraftScout.com if Los Ramos redo Stafford's, Aaron Donald's and Jalen Ramsey's Contracts that just those 3 REWorked Contracts will free up $21 Million is Cap Dollars. If Los Ramos redo those 3 above and also rework Cooper Kupp's and Robert Woods new Contracts that those 5 reworks free up $38 Million for 2021.

It's not really an "if," that's what has to be done. And all the above (+$38M) will get us back to zero or a mil or two or under the $180M cap. So while I agree the tenor of your entire post, I don't think much at all is going to happen in FA, with our own dudes or otherwise. 2022 looks very good now, we'll see how much 2021 money has to get pushed there.

IMO, a good move all things considered. Didn't really put us in much worse shape this year and creates much more flexibility going forward. And yeah, I think Stafford will be better than Goff.

Assuming that’s true, the Rams must feel very confident in their depth behind Floyd, JJ, and Hill (assuming they get D Williams signed somehow) and they must like the competition they have with the depth on the OL to push starters. Also, we still have 6 picks in this draft to rebuild competitive depth in aforementioned areas. Must avoid injury bug.
