I think 3 & 4 should realistically get flipped. Sure we want the ring but that's kind of the mecca. And really still needs 3 to happen to legitimize it (See: Eli Manning)

/zn/ wrote:So you're writing off Goff's chances in this game in advance? As a way of getting in jabs at a guy who wondered if he could come through in this game?

Meanwhile, what will it take for you to say that Goff is at the same level as Brady or Brees? Or...do you think he is already at that level?

Lol, I'm not sure where you could get that I'm writing off Goff's chances this game from my comment. I'm saying just because Goff hasn't been as good in cold weather as good weather doesn't mean he's not there. Seems like you're arguing for the sake of arguing. My wife is pretty good at totally misinterpreting what I say too. "What are you thinking about?" "Nothing" "What's that supposed to mean!? So you're mad at me!?" :lol2:

Meanwhile, I'm not saying Goff is on the same level as Brady and Brees. But at 24 with only 34 career games under his belt I like his chances to one day be "there". BTW, Goff's numbers are better than Brady's this season and he's won a couple more games. But he's got a long way to go before he can be considered on the same level.

He's already won in the cold, in the rain/snow, under unusual circumstances, against good defensive squads, against good offensive squads, against good defenses while ours is yielding a ton of points, yada-yada...

Here's a check list of 4 remaining things to prove.

Yeah things like that will be the measures. I think the main thing he's missing is just seasoning. So in the Denver and Detroit games the defenses could throw him off rhythm by doing things he had not seen. When he's seen more that will happen less, obviously. I'm not sure I would count a superbowl as one of the things (though it doesn't hurt 8-) ). Eli's team won 2, for example, and Flacco's team won 1, but I don't think that makes them equal to or better than Warner, Rodgers, and Brees, all of whom play for teams that just won one.

I actually haven't said anything about him in cold weather. So that's not a response to anything from me. I think (first paragraph) we're kinda just talking past each other (which is fine, happens).

Next paragraph? In terms of him becoming a next level qb, I',m pretty much saying exactly what you are saying. We're on the same page there. He will get there, it's a matter of seasoning but he has all the things you need to get there (arm talent, football smarts, mindset, work ethic, drive and competitiveness, ability to come through in the clutch). In terms of matching Brady or Brees...it took years for those 2 to be seen in that light and it will with Goff too if that's his ceiling. Heck just to be a Rivers or that level, which is just below Brady/Bress, that will take years too.

I said this whole thread that having a bad game or 2 during a season just happens to everyone. I pointed out that Brees had 5 subpar games in his 4th year.

Getting back to the OP.

If you look at every game Goff has ever played in under 30 degrees temps, my bet is that he’s never had a good game. Not even one. And that includes college. I know you can say it’s probably a small sample size, but I still think there’s an argument that he can’t function well in the cold.

I hope he goes into Chicago and proves me wrong.

I can only find one game he played under 30 degrees. The Denver game.
What other games are you considering?
I saw a night game at Washington State where he threw for 500+ and 5td but temps were in the low 40’s

As a pro, it was in the high 30’s against Tennessee where he threw for 300, 4 tds and a 4th q comeback win
