safer wrote:While I'll admit to not being as informed on our picks thru the 6th round, I fully trust McSnead based on their past wisdom in draft picks.

Here's what this draft has told me so far:
1) Looks like our CB Forbes, or others, have made this position group stronger than we know.
2) With the exception of replacing Hoeght's valuable (rotational pass rusher spot) on D, we went full in to become a much better run D (including Poona in F/A.). We have succeeded!
3) at this point I don't think we have enough depth on our O line, especially at RT
4) It would not surprise me if, after camp, we trade RB Williams as he now has a reputation for his fumbles and D's focus on that. Last year vs the Eagles, he lost a fumble in BOTH games, and that proved to be the diff in our playoff loss.
5) thought we would take a flyer on a QB to give us a year to find out IF he could become our future #1. Even if he would only be viewed as a future #2, we could save $11 mill by not keeping Jimmy as our back-up. If he busts, then we've only lost a low pick to possibly keep us from having to trade away a bevy of picks for a top prospect next year.

Jalen Ramsey coming. Don’t think Kyren is going anywhere. Hunter will be a ST player and get some 3rd down work.

McVay seemed pretty content in McCLendon at RT, I could see them adding more competition in 7th or UDFA. Also have Leveston .

Rookie RBs rarely play much for McVay. That applies to Corrum last year and Hunter this year.

Jimmy G. only counts $3.1 mil against cap and would incur $3 mil dead cap if cut so really no advantage in cutting him. Plus, by all accounts, McVay loves him...

Gotta agree we're really thin at OT. 2nd round of FA coming up and maybe McVay means it when he says he likes what we have now...

Regarding OT the Rams may opt to convert some of Havenstein's non-guaranteed money to guaranteed if he medically checks out. McClendon would remain his backup.

Swing OT will probably be someone they pickup as part of their UDFA group. Or depending upon what they see in Leveston, he might be able to play LT which is where he played in college.

I think Hunter will play in a rotational role. But he needs to be coached up on pass protection to be a starter. I think Ferguson will play in rotation with Higbee to give him game experience.

Stewart might be the one who plays the most snaps this year as he's obviously Hoecht's replacement. Stewart is a very good edge, and actually might be better than Hoecht as a rotational edge.

Chris Paul is a clear upgrade to Rozeboom and Hummel. Along with Landman and Speights the Rams will have their 3 starting ILB next year. The Rams has gotten a lot better this year with Landman and Paul.

I can see them rotating Ford and Hamilton at NT this year. Ford as an early down NT with Hamilton in rotation on passing downs. I think we will see Turner and Fiske also in rotation with each other. Once these guys get acclimated to the NFL the rotational defensive front won't be a drop off in talent. Shula will be able to keep his front 7 fresh with frequent rotation and with no drop off in talent.

This has been a very focused draft, and I'm more than happy with the results.

I think the Rams picked some very good players and I'm happy as well with the way it played out.

That being said, don't you want to to quadruple down on a franchise QB in round 7?

You spent several weeks trying to convince us that Stafford was done/retired/Old man and the Rams were getting his replacement by trade or draft capital.

Just saying you've got one more chance at being wrong again. 8-)

Hamilton is a run stopper, he will rotate in on run down like B Brown did.

This is looking more and more likely. The Rams didn’t draft a CB and could use an addition to that room.

Ramsey is a clear upgrade and fit!

Also, Forbes has had a year and a half to do nothing but train the way the Rams wanted him to. He could show up an entirely different player. And he was a first round pick.

So, if there were corners and OL/RT available at every pick slot the Rams made, and the Rams traded up to get specific players who don’t play either of those positions - what does that tell you??

A. They really do like who they have now
B. The Rams know more about football. And their team that we do.

It’s pretty simple.

And they like the players they drafted more than the alternatives.

We only made 6 picks, lots of other ways to add to the roster.

That and what '34 said...
