Anyone know how future picks value against a current one? I'm assuming a 2022 plus 2023 1st round pick is worth more than a 2021 but by how much?

Sounds like three of the teams the Rams beat out to get Stafford are San Francisco, New England and Washington.

One thing that just occurs to me and maybe revealing that the Goff thing must have degenerated rapidly. ...

IF the plan all along was to trade Goff or even target Matt, think about how much easier (or cheaper) it would be for us to trade for Matt without all the Goff doesn’t fit talk. Or talk that he’s a Ram (right now.).

It would’ve been super sneaky and disingenuous, BUT, if McVay and Snead came out GLOWING about Goffs toughness (putting his thumb back together) and ripping a win from the Seahawks. I think we’d have to give less to make this trade work. Especially with all the chatter that Detroit actually covets Goff...

Something else to consider: Stafford as a competitor has to be just dying to be part of a winner and have a real shot at a SB. He knows he has an elite D, great running game, semi decent OL that hopefully will get more attention in the draft F/A, and an innovative offensive minded HC. He should come in here fired up big time and wanting to impress/win over his teammates as well as deliver the goods on game day.

yeah, we might have had to overpay, but what if SF got him? How many here would be lamenting that we wouldn't be as good of a team? I think we had to pony up because A--we didn't have a first rounder this year, and B) we knew the Niners were in the hunt too.
THE only other guy who might (but probably isn't) available is Watson, but I'd bet they patch things up and move on.
I've been one of the most down guys on Goff around here, and I'd bet Stafford will bring a REAL energy into the building when he gets here. Look what LaFluer has done with Rodgers.....and I'm thinking we will see dramatic improvement in our passing game.

these two tweets don't seem to square with what was reported earlier a) that other teams offered the lions significantly more than the rams but (oddly?) the lions chose to deal with the rams nonetheless and b) stafford made it clear that he wanted to play for mcvay and the rams... then again maybe a 1st now is much better than 2 in the future, and maybe trade me anywhere doesn't really mean that if you also say sure, i like the idea of playing for mcvay and the rams too?

This trade for Mathew Stafford underscores a few McSnead tenets:
-McSnead feel their assembly of a great roster should have them in the SB hunt every year;
-McSnead felt that in 2019 they got held back by lame Gurley, OL departures/injuries & Goff;
-McSnead felt that in 2020 with a #1 NFL D, improved OL & running game w/ Akers, that Goff held them back;
-McSnead knew that SF were also coveting Stafford, and that Stafford wanted outa Detroit, so he was going to end up somewhere....so they overpaid to land him here in LA.

I think McSnead feel they want to go ALL IN for SB in 2021 with AD and Jared Ramsey windows STILL at their peaks.....so they said "Fuck the Draft Picks" and signed Mathew Stafford, who is also desperate to try to get to a SB in his career. IMO Stafford will redo his Contract with Los Ramos to free up Ram Cap Money for guys like JJ III, Floyd and maybe an OL Fuglie or two.

Per AJDraftScout.com if Los Ramos redo Stafford's, Aaron Donald's and Jalen Ramsey's Contracts that just those 3 REWorked Contracts will free up $21 Million is Cap Dollars.
If Los Ramos redo those 3 above and also rework Cooper Kupp's and Robert Woods new Contracts that those 5 reworks free up $38 Million for 2021.

Looks to me sportsfans that McSnead are going SuperBowl or Bust for 2021!!! :idea2: :arrow2: :lol2:

....which is a good thing eh!!! :D

MORE POSITIVES: Las Vegas oddsmakers sure have noticed the Rams acquisition of Mathew Stafford as well!!

So let me get this straight. We're going to ask Aaron Donald to restructure? The perenniel DPOY? And after giving Ramsey his money before this season we're going to say "we were only kidding, you need to restructure."? If that's the plan we're fucked. We need it to happen but I don't see that going over well at all. I expect Stafford to do a deal but those two? I don't think so.

The offense has sucked so I could see cutting some guys or restructuring on that side of the ball.

As far as "going Superbowl or bust" that's been the mantra every season, so they're hitting .250.

Here's hoping they're successful
