I'm only writing this from a humorous standpoint so don't get all upset about these observations. I certainly hope they aren't prophetic.

Well, I'm glad Shedeur Sanders was picked by Cleveland. He must feel like he entered the 5th dimension. A lot of pride to swallow there, for pops too.

Hunter was the Rams TOP rated offensive player in the draft? Wow, and McVay compared Ferguson to Kelsey? This should be good. I take it Corum was a failed experiment or is this the duo of the future once KWil's contract is up?

Another undersized edge player and DT. I guess we have enough linemen now? Since CB and S have been ignored the plan must be to package those 2 2026 first round picks to Miami for Ramsey. (where is the blue font when you need it?) If there is a way to get Ramsey back I seriously hope it doesn't cost the obvious. I don't see it happening.

The draft's not over so we'll see. Some guys here love the term JAGs. I hope we didn't just get a van full. Still enjoyable. McVay and Sneed have done it too often to doubt them now. They obviously have no respect for the top 40 in this draft per the cost or Sanders as an NFL caliber QB. I just hope we don't leave another gaping hole in our D for no reason like 2024.

Ty Hamilton is a developmental DT who plays the run well. He can stack and shed something Brown could never do. Pair him with Ford to eventually take over that rotational role and the Rams are addressing the run defense long term.

Chris Paul is a decent developmental ILB with good speed.

Round 2, No. 46: Terrance Ferguson, TE, Oregon

My take: Adding a tight end or wide receiver was a priority for the Rams entering the draft, and after trading out of the first round on Thursday night, they find that player in Ferguson. Last season, Ferguson tied Oregon's single-season tight end record with 43 receptions and his 591 receiving yards were the second-most in a season by a tight end in team history.

Although the Rams tried to trade up to draft a tight end in the past, this is the earliest Los Angeles has taken a tight end since drafting Gerald Everett 44th overall in 2017, which was head coach Sean McVay's first season in Los Angeles.

Key stat: Although Los Angeles has three tight ends on the roster -- Tyler Higbee, Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen -- it was a position group that wasn't especially productive for much of last season. According to ESPN Research, the Rams had the fewest receiving yards in the NFL from their tight ends during the 2024 season (459). Both Higbee and Parkinson will be free agents after this season, so addressing the position with their first pick fills a long-term need for the Rams.

Round 3, No. 90: Josaiah Stewart, LB, Michigan

My take: Stewart adds depth to the Rams' pass rush, a group that lost outside linebacker Michael Hoecht to the Buffalo Bills in free agency. Stewart had 14 sacks in his two seasons at Michigan, where he lined up primarily at outside linebacker. According to ESPN Research, 9.5 of Stewart's 14 sacks at Michigan came at that position. And although Stewart measured in at 6-foot-1 at the NFL combine, which was tied for the second-shortest edge rusher in this year's group, coach Sean McVay said "he doesn't play undersized."

What we're hearing about Stewart: Rams general manager Les Snead described Stewart as "tenacious," saying the outside linebacker "is just going to give more effort than the next guy." "He [was] a really fun player to watch at Michigan," Snead said. "The stat sheet says it all. From Coastal Carolina, transfer up to Michigan. Plenty of sacks, pressures, TFLs (tackle for loss). Relentless player."

Round 4, No. 117 : Jarquez Hunter, RB, Auburn
My take: The Rams added depth at running back, trading up to draft Hunter. Hunter had 4.03 yards per rush after contact in 2024, which was the best in the SEC among players with at least 100 rushes, according to ESPN Research. Hunter was a two-year starter at Auburn and rushed for 1,201 yards and eight touchdowns on 187 carries in 2024. He also had 21 catches for 155 yards and a touchdown. He joins a Rams roster with four other running backs: Kyren Williams, Blake Corum, Ronnie Rivers and Cody Schrader.

Round 5, No. 148: Ty Hamilton, DT, Ohio State
My take: The Rams traded up for the second straight pick, this time into the fifth round for Hamilton. Los Angeles clearly felt strongly about Hamilton because they gave up a 2025 sixth-round pick and a 2026 fourth to get him.

Hamilton started all 16 games for Ohio State last season, and all but 11 of his 1,533 career defensive snaps came lined up as a defensive tackle, according to ESPN Research. He had only six missed tackles since the start of 2021, when he became a regular on the Ohio State defensive line, and he made 96% of his total tackle attempts.

Round 5, No. 172: Chris Paul Jr., LB, Ole Miss
My take: After losing two inside linebackers in free agency -- Christian Rozeboom and Jake Hummel -- the Rams traded up to add to the position group. Paul led Ole Miss with 84 tackles in 2024 and his 222 tackles since the start of 2022 are tied for the fifth-most in the SEC. According to ESPN Research, Paul did not allow a touchdown in 665 career coverage snaps during the 2024 season.

What's next:
Round 7: No. 242

As Ramsman34 has said, the Rams identify 15-20 guys they believe they can get. Gotta believe these 5 were in that group, especially considering they traded up for 3 of them. We can debate the validity of the choices like Jarquez Hunter but for sure, these guys were high on the Rams list. I liked the Hunter pick, especially after I watched his highlight reel. Dude has some giddyup. Speaking of giddyup, here's hoping that 7th round pick is Isaiah Bond.

Good observation.

Ferguson is definitely Kelce. Hes so smooth out there.

He does a lot. That is how Kelce is.

I keep saying it. What a fucking pick. The Rams did get the best tight end in this draft. And they traded back to get it.

You all have no idea how big that Atlanta trade was. We get a top 10 pick in next years draft for trading a pick that was in the end of the first round in this draft.

I don’t think Atlanta will win the Super Bowl. They’re a team on the come up. But that’s a lot of wins. We can get a great Quarterback.

Next season is the deep Quarterback draft unlike this season.

Manning Imalava Beck Mussingere

Lots of talent. The Rams had a very smart detailed approach in this draft and got it done. Hunters a great pick.

I think Hunter is a starter. I call Kap on him being the best offensive player in this draft. But we will have a squad.

Corum looks like a third down back.

Sanders couldn’t have gone to a better place. Like Cleveland. He has a shot. Now show em what you can do. And take that animosity towards Pittsburg you play them twice.

And now you gotta beat out Dillian Gabriel.

At least you didn’t go to a team like Kansas City or Buffalo or Baltimore. Where there was no shot of you playing at all.

If Sanders turns into a starter for Cleveland that's good news for us. With both Cleveland and the Rams with two #1's next year we won't have to compete with them for a QB in the 1st round next season. I hope Rams family isn't giving up on Corum already just by his rookie year, kid can play, just give him some time.

While I'll admit to not being as informed on our picks thru the 6th round, I fully trust McSnead based on their past wisdom in draft picks.

Here's what this draft has told me so far:
1) Looks like our CB Forbes, or others, have made this position group stronger than we know.
2) With the exception of replacing Hoeght's valuable (rotational pass rusher spot) on D, we went full in to become a much better run D (including Poona in F/A.). We have succeeded!
3) at this point I don't think we have enough depth on our O line, especially at RT
4) It would not surprise me if, after camp, we trade RB Williams as he now has a reputation for his fumbles and D's focus on that. Last year vs the Eagles, he lost a fumble in BOTH games, and that proved to be the diff in our playoff loss.
5) thought we would take a flyer on a QB to give us a year to find out IF he could become our future #1. Even if he would only be viewed as a future #2, we could save $11 mill by not keeping Jimmy as our back-up. If he busts, then we've only lost a low pick to possibly keep us from having to trade away a bevy of picks for a top prospect next year.

Wow great great pick in Chris Paul Jr.

He will start at off ball linebacker next to Speights. He can get sideline to sideline and he can spy a QB if needed. Finally have an athlete at ILB.

Still no QB lol
