Baker to Tampa, 1 year deal + team option year(s), which they don’t exercise.
Brady to the Raiders, or retires.
Stafford plays one more season, 2023
Baker to the Rams in 2024

Nice scenario but imo if Baker leaves we'd likely never get him back. He'd probably just extend with Tampa. Life in South FL doesn't suck and he could keep more of his paychecks. If its about money that is a factor.
We need him under contract here and now.

Particularly if he has success.

I hope to heck that he sees the light that is shining on him here in LA and pulls an unorthodox move to stay put. Of course he'd need assurances. All of it hinges on McVay's and Stafford's futures and expected shelf lives imo. And the general health of the team with regard to roster and finances.

He isn't affraid of TV roles / cameras either. There are even more here in LA than Cleveland. Might factor some.

Here's a tid-bit on the subject from Baker himself.
“No, I’m a free agent after this so I really haven’t given it much thought, to be honest with you,” he said Wednesday. “Just trying to roll with it one day at a time, but yeah, we’ll see. It should be interesting, but all that doesn’t start until March anyways, so we’ll see how it goes.”

Remember in 2008 when Jim Haslett (throw up in my mouth a little) won consecutive games for the Rams, and there was a murmuring buzz about whether the Rooney Rule would apply in the offseason to interim coaches?

It's been a fun couple of weeks in an otherwise miserable season .. my feeling is this realistically ends with what the Rams were hoping for, which is, showcase Mayfield, make him look like a competent starter, then flip him for a R4/R5 comp pick when he signs elsewhere.

We're sure that's what it was? OR was it, they wanted a competent NFL QB running the offense so they could evaluate the backups who were playing? If he showed out well, sure they could get a comp pick. But if he showed out REALLY well, is a comp pick worth a legit NFL QB to back up their much older, physically questionable, almost ready to retire or not #1 QB? Ram fans have proven one thing since this regime took over. They can't predict anything they do. The draft. The roster. Keeping or trading a player. Going out and getting a player. Etc.

This rings of truth with a track record.

Maybe just the flavor of the moment, but I like Baker's mobility as I somewhat fear for Staff's life, elbow...

My completely ignorant prediction, along with explanations and exceptions.....

Sean Payton returns to the NFL. If he doesn't go to Denver (and w/ Russel "cooking" seems unlikely), he takes a job for the Colts.

Baker has been trying to play for the Colts since his falling out w/ the Browns. If Indy lands Baker, Payton joins him, and vice versa.

I look forward to all of you dunking on me when this all proves complete bullsh!t. :lol2:
