Keenum has a good game overall today. But face it, in order to win with him you have to be protecting a lead, not trying to come back from a deficit. He's at his worst in crunch time. He doesn't have that mentality to raise him game in the final minutes when you really need it.

He's just not that kind of quarterback. You have to have a complete team playing well on both sides in order to win with him. He's a decent journeyman backup. Plain and simple. Nothing more, nothing less.

The worst thing I can imagine is another 7-9 season and Goff never seeing the field. Goff probably doesn't win today because of how bad the defense was. But I would have more faith in the two minute offense with the rookie than the veteran.

Change the script, Stan. Don't accept this shit.

i've felt this way far too many times throughout the decades i've spent pulling for the rams... the vermeil years, just painful rams football, until the rams finally got off the pot and committed to putting an offense on the field, until the rams forced an offense on vermeil, spags, linny, fish... i was actually very stoked about this season, when the rams moved up to get goff, i didn't see that coming, and then they followed it up with 2 more offensive picks, i thought it was 1999 all over again, the rams finally getting off the pot and committing to putting an offense on the field, committing to a quality offense in 2016 to compliment what was supposed to be a strong defense... then fisher promptly shat all over the hope with his crazy case/postseason comments, his crazy the rams can win with case comments, not giving goff snaps with the 1s during preseason, etc., etc., it took the wind right out of my sails....

Something seems different here.
Did we used to line up with the single safety playing so deep he's almost out of the play and everyone else crowding the line D before? Or the corners so far off that a QB can audible (like today) for an automatic 5? Something seems different here.

When our whole D-line is in I can see a difference,, except game 1.. We need RQ back and Brock to shore up.

I think the most upsetting thing I read this week had nothing to do with the team - it was the random interview with Kroenke where he seemed happy with the team. I was holding out hope that he was going to fire Fisher sometime here.

Yeah it's hard to watch. Pick 6 last week in a tie game, bad decision/pick down 3 today. It reminded me of Wentz's throw last week on his first interception of the year. The Eagles are down 2.....just need a FG to win and he goes deep. In Keenum's defense, we had no timeouts and just over a minute left but I was expecting something shorter with some yac, then a spike.

That being said, we can blame Keenum for that pick. Poor decision. Poor pass. We can even blame him for the loss as a result of that pick. But the latter would be "targeting" in the worst sense. The defense lost this game today.

Anytime a QB like Keenum gives you 300+ yards, 3 TDs passing (and runs one in), you have to win that game. 27 of 32 with 19 consecutive completions? He was dropping the deep throws into their laps and to their credit they were catching them.

Now, I don't know about the rest of the fans but the offense looked a lot better to me today. Three long, time consuming first half drives (2 TDs). 5 of the first 6 averaged more than 9 plays, a tick under 80 yards and yielded 28 points. After not scoring a TD the first two weeks, the offense has averaged 23 PPG. That's enough to win more often than not with a good defense. Instead we're 2-2 over that period.

The defense showed why you need depth. Without Tru we have a weak secondary that the better quarterbacks will exploit. Without Quinn the line cannot generate a pass rush to protect the secondary weaknesses. What you get is consecutive games losing while the opposition scores 30. We're sitting at 3-3 now. Classic Fisherball.

That play also had Austin and Kendricks ending up in the same place. Austin should have veered to pull the safety off,,, or CK (not Clayton Kershaw) should have chucked the ball longer so only TA could catch up to it.
Very unfortunate to finish off a nice day at the office with that.

Absolutely correct.

The offense played one of its best games in years. Long drives leading to touchdowns all day. The defense stunk - plain and simple. The offense did what we've all been hoping for.

I've always thought this Rams defense, under Williams, is not as good as many people think. Probably a bit better than average but not nearly good enough to win consistently with a Fisher offense. They come up huge a few games each season (mostly against Seattle) but in between are nothing special.

I think it's a lot better with Tru Johnson, Robert Quinn and a healthy Michael Brockers. BTW, the kid who got the ruffing penalty, Forest is starting to impress me on defense a bit. He's got 6 NFL games under his belt, probably less than that in reality, but he looks fast and can tackle.

Our D (when healthy) is disruptive. We need to fix the second level so when a runner get's through he doesn't take it to the house..
