Personally I think they have a trade partner. But are keeping it under wraps as it would expose potential draft strategy. It's why they aren't talking to Matt because then it would be all over the net with Kelly's podcast crowing about the trade. In this case, no news is probably good news. If they fully intended to keep Matt, why all the cloak and dagger stuff? The longer the silence the more I'm convinced he's gone and IMO it's probably a done deal.

It's time for both sides to move on. If he is traded I wish him well. If he stays, then I'm concerned about McVay's longevity as a HC. It's why I think a move is forthcoming and it potentially could keep the Rams in contention for years and as Snead talked about, keep this roster intact for a prolonged SB window. Keeping McVay engaged and energized is all that is important. Matt isn't the key to being in contention, he's just another replaceable cog. How do they replace Sean? They don't, so it's easier to do what they must to keep him. His frustration over how the season ended was clear, and the inability to evolve his scheme was equally clear.

This post is so off base and beyond reality I dont know where to begin.

Obviously Stafford pissed in your Wheaties at some point. Your continued hate for the guy that literally had 3 game winning drives to get to and win the SB is obnoxious at best.

-Stafford is our best chance to get a Chip of any avail QB's FACT

-McVay aggressively went after Stafford (dumped Goff) to get over the hump to win a Super Bowl- FACT

- McVay will stay as long as Stafford is around and hopefully much longer FACT

- When Stafford is gone our chances at a SB anytime soon drops 50% and I am being optimtistic FACT

Ya. Clickbait insanity out there.

Unless Stafford is A. Pissed about potential/probable Kupp trade. B. Wants an insane contract in terms of length and dollars. C. Really wants to play somewhere else or retire - then there is no way Stafford is not under center for the seams at least in 2025.

I do realize that is a lot of contingencies.

I can't see the overall money being an issue w/ Stafford. He's the 5th highest paid player in the league!! The sticking point has to be that none of it is guarenteed, and on the Rams side that the cap hit isn't a small one.

If I'm Les I try to resign him for 3 year @ $75mil. $25 guaranteed this year, and 25 next, with the assumption that we move on in the 3rd (non-guaranteed) year. Matt gets his $50mil guaranteed, we get a little cap help this year and next. While hopefully drafting Matt's replacement to play under and learn from him.

That being said, I'm no GM so I might be talking rubbish. 😅

Yikes.

The Aaron Rodgers thing is not far fetched if you could get a 1st round pick and Fleece the Raiders.

I would draft Tmac the stud receiever from university of Arizona.

But the guy they are drafting is Cam Ward. He’s a stud kind of Like Mahomes when he came out of Texas Tech didn’t win. Mahomes wasn’t the number 1 guy but had the most buzz leading up to the draft.

And Cam Ward is clearly the guy the Rams are ooing about. He’s got poise arm and Mobility.

Sign The bridge Aaron for 1 season to run the team. He doesn’t need the money.

Warner ways in, he knows wasup...

https://theramswire.usatoday.com/2025/0 ... ner-quote/

Although it seems the signs are pointing toward Matthew Stafford returning to the Los Angeles Rams next season, a potential trade involving the veteran quarterback can’t be ruled out. If the Rams are unable to get an extension done with Stafford, they’ll have no choice but to trade him.

Hall of Famer Kurt Warner doesn’t think it should get to that point, though. He believes the Rams should keep Stafford in the fold, knowing their Super Bowl window is open with him under center.

Warner took a strong stance against L.A. trading Stafford in a recent interview with talkSport, saying that if the Rams want to win, “then you don’t get rid of guys like that.”

“I think so much of decisions like that become, do you feel that your team can be competitive for the next couple of years?” Warner said. “I think Matt, he’s a top-five, top-seven quarterback in the league at this point, no matter where you want to stack him up. If you want to win as a team, then you don’t get rid of guys like that.”

Warner questions whether the Rams feel their Super Bowl window is open right now, considering they want to trade Cooper Kupp and they could deal Stafford if they can’t get a deal done.

The way he sees it, there’s no way he would even consider trading Stafford, given the current state of the franchise. He views them as legitimate contenders in the NFC and thinks Stafford gives them the best chance to win.

“Getting rid of Cooper Kupp, it sounds like they want to make a trade for Cooper. Do they feel like they’re not in that window?” Warner said. “But I look at this team and what they did this year, and they took the Eagles to the end with a chance to win. They got a great young defense. Puka Nacua is unbelievable. Matthew’s playing at a tremendous level that I just think – I know he wants to play a couple more years – if I’m the Rams and I believe my window to win is right now, there’s no way I would even think about moving him.”

It’s not that the Rams want to trade Stafford. It’s that they may not have a choice if his asking price is so far above what they’re willing to pay him. It’s difficult to see a scenario where they can’t find a middle ground that rewards Stafford and gives him a raise, while also not handcuffing the franchise financially as it continues to build a championship-caliber roster.

Time will tell how this situation plays out but the Rams’ first priority is re-signing Stafford before even considering a trade.
