I'll go on the record here for the low side of that AT BEST. It's obvious to me that the team has flushed '23 and likely '24. They still have to play the games so hope springs eternal but this entire off-season so far has left a bad taste in my mouth. Yes they won 56 but the price is now looking to be pretty steep.

Money is money, it is hard to begrudge a player for wanting what he could get, but I often wonder how long can this system remain in place. Player salaries are reset almost yearly, how does it sustain ?! I remember specifically last year seeing all these CB's getting paid and seeing Ramsey celebrate it via twitter. all the while I knew he would be looking to get paid more now that the market had blown up.

I kinda like Rams pivoting and going with cheap drafted players and maybe some vets after the first wave or two of free agency. Stafford's contract isnt terrible with respect to other established QB's, now the Rams just need to hit on these draft picks...

The system was negotiated to benefit the players and the teams. I support the players getting paid. Their careers are short and they are elite athletes. As long as the cap keeps going up, salaries will keep going up. And as long as revenue keeps going up, so will the cap. It's actually a pretty great system, IMO. The players and owners both want to maximize revenue, they both benefit by it.

And as long as the cap keeps going up, these backloaded contracts make sense too. It's cheaper to sign a player today than it will be next year, etc. Yeah things get out of whack once in a while but for the most part it makes sense and everyone is making bank.

What happens if/when revenue levels out or starts falling? That will be interesting.

I'm pretty sure the Rams could have done some restructuring and kicked the can down the road if they wanted to. They didn't want to. I think they're pretty smart so i'm curious to see what's in store.

Who have the Rams jettisoned? I really liked Floyd a lot but he's hurt a lot, didn't have a great year and is getting older. Similar for Wagner. Jalen is a little different but again, not his best year, getting older.

I don't think this is a case of we ran out of money and simply have no choice. This is a choice, interested to see where it goes...

We did sign a lot of the free agents last season.

Interesting Niners sign Sam Darnold. That’s a low key sneaky move pickup that can be good. Him with Shannahan might be an issue. Looks like a more athletic Jimmy G. Local guy. Cali guy back in Cali.


I think there’s been some brilliant takes in here. What stuck with me was Stafford. Yes brilliant to sign him at that price cause look at what the Quarterback market has gone up to. I like Stafford at that price. And it kind of is like Mahomes at what price he got. That’s a bonus. Very very good signing. Glad they got that deal done.
