I guess Indy makes sense as far as they need a starter. But, Jeff Saturday is the HC. And this will be another coaching staff, another system to learn. They have pieces to be competitive. So that is probably the spot.

Imagine Baker splits and Staff gets banged up again. Due to age he hangs them up and we're back where we were a few games back,,,, non-competitive.

2 years ago Stafford was worth 2 first rounders and Goff. Wonder what we could get for him now?

Zen_Ronin wrote:Pat McAfee said he's heard Baker is looking at houses in Indianapolis. Fact is, Baker wants to start. We may be able to convince him to sign somewhere short term, and come back once Staff retires. But will McVay stick around once Staff is gone? Maybe he wants to start a family and decides a cushy tv gig is better for that? Will Baker want to return if McVay isn't here?

It just feels like THIS is the window for Baker as a Ram. But we'd have to convince him to take a back seat to Stafford. I just can't see that happening. Let's just pray Stafford stays healthy next year, and that what ever the hell was wrong with his elbow has healed completely. He never looked good this year. I hope that was an anomaly. The exception to the rule.

I heard he was looking at houses in Washington, DC area!! Pat McAfee is a tool but if it's something involving Rodgers he has inside info. Having said that, Indy is also a potential destination. As is Tampa and North Jersey/NYC. IIRC, the Giants didn't take the 5th yr option on Jones, Brady may leave for Frisco or Vegas, Wentz and Heinecke ain't the answer in Washington and the QBs in Indy suck. The question is how much will teams offer him, how much guaranteed and for how long? I'd think the NYG and Washington would be the best destinations, talent wise but minus the large commitment.

I'd also think the Rams could offer him a creative deal. Stafford is great and they can't afford to take a dead money hit before 2025 but he has been injured a ton throughout his career. Though he's played through all but the most severe, that's gotta be harder with age. 2024 might be his final year, 2025 at the latest IMHO. And there's always the chance he's injured before then. He doesn't strike me as the legacy conscious type like Brady or Rodgers, though after facing The Ego all those years in the NFC North he may want to end his career with more SB wins....which means he'd only need 1 more. :D

McVay + Snead has a way of falling in love with players. And I think McVay has fallen in love with Baker. Honestly, if the money cap wasn't an issue I think we'd have a decent chance at convincing Baker to stay. What other QB needy team can almost guarantee return to the postseason and a shot at the big prize? Look at McVay's track record. Our defense (which never gave up this terrible season). And even our potential offense with all our injuries. I bet Snead could (and has) made that argument.

However, the money thing will gum this all up. Take a back seat AND get paid backup money? No way Baker can sign on that dotted line.

There is no way Baker is signing in Indy. He will play for the Pacers before the Colts.

The Owner Jim Irsay is not going to go through another journeyman vet on the Carousel.

Rivers Wentz Ryan Brisett Foles no Baker.

The colts will be clearly drafting a young Quarterback. And they are clearly tanking for one. Cj Stroud or Bryce Young.

One thing I’ll say about Baker like Odell Beckham. He got a lot of critism before coming here but has completely turned his career around after coming here. That means a lot.

This system is a very good system to play in. Offensive friendly. It works for him. Why leave it?

He had successs with Lincoln Riley great system. Worked with Freddie Kitchens. I don’t think he’s gonna get anywhere else what he’s getting here.

Mcvay is Quarterback friendly. Goff Stafford and Mayfield. I think he likes. It’s a very quick offense and Mayfield likes that. Completely different from Carolina.

It just goes to show what this team would look like with a competent backup Quarterback. I think it makes sense for him to resign here learn from Matthew Stafford for two years and then take the team over when Stafford retires.

If you were Baker - had his talent and ego/self opinion - would you want to sign a starters $ deal and start or sign a back up $ deal and sit and hope for your shot to start in a system that clearly will allow you to shine? Also, keep in mind the stars that could be gone by the time he starts in a year or likely two. It will be a different team then.

I can’t see him staying unless he gets dogshit starting $ offers on going nowhere teams.

I do think he wants to win so that might temper his anxiousness to start for a shit team and further damage his image through limited opportunity for success. Now, if Lincoln Riley lands an NFL HC gig…..

He's playing with our backups now so not sure that's the big deal. Striking while the iron is hot and making more money would seem very attractive.
McV pays forward again.

Well I’m a USC guy. No way are USC letting Lincoln Riley go anywhere. They’ve paid him so much money two houses 100 million.

So Baker can play for the best here in L.A. remember he’s gonna have Cooper Kupp Cam Ackers a retooled line around him. TuTu Van he’s gonna have pieces.

And looking at the way Kelly runs the household Staffords probably playing one more season.

The super bowl was worth it. Great we could get a guy to run our offense after.

Not gonna lie Baker will flee here faster then Kyler Murray from Aaron Donald.

I donot think Baker Mayfield will see Joe Montana money.

Let’s look at these places.

Houston probably drafting Bryce Young. They will be signing a bridge quarterback.

New Orleans not so much.

I just see him as a bridge other places. I think here is his best place two year deal.

Kind of reminds me of Garner Minchew in Philly.
