/zn/ wrote:Blythe recently was PFF's 6th ranked center. Not that PFF is the rule of law, but they're ballpark in their rankings. And on top of it you can call a game where the center gets help if you're up against a DT that overmatches him. That was proven by the teams whose OLs handled the Jets DL. It's not because the Jets went up against 13 consecutive all-world centers.

The real issue here is gameplanning, playcalling, and adjustments. How you use the line when it is being attacked.

This whole thing where one loss has people changing the entire roster is just what happens when emotions overturn real analysis.

bingo.

So zn...
Belichick never attacked the Sullivan/Blythe Gap in the SuperBowl...
y'know, the one we lost & scored the fewest points (3) in SB History (tied Miami vs Dallas)????

Fact For zn: Weakness gets identified in the hyper-competitive NFL.

You go with "it's all about McVay's shitty scheming." Fill yer boots!

I am going with Blythe is weak at the Point Of Attack on running plays, and today gave Goff fits all day long attempting to pass....
due to Austin Blythe's MFL (MAJOR FUCKING LEAKAGE) up the middle. :x
What.....did you miss that today??? :roll2:

Yeah, yeah....and my post on Austin TheWeakLink Blythe was advocating "changing the whole roster"! :roll2:

FYI: Jackie Slater postgame comment today: "The Rams OLine looks undersized."

Here's some advice for you zn:
You should spend more time analyzing Ram plays.....
and less time pontificating on the motives of other RFU posters.

Blythe was fucking owned all day. MCV should have adjusted for that sooner. He is weak AF at the point of attack. That position has to get upgraded. Corbett has his shit moments as well. But he’s at least strong, just not all that athletic.

I wonder if Tremaine Anchrum can play OC.

Since when is getting a quality center changing the entire roster?

The point here is Blythe is not a good OL, he has never held up well against physical DTs. Where does PFF have him ranked after 16 games? I don’t need to see their ranking, I can watch the game and know he’s nowhere near 6th best, how about 6th worst.

There were many things that were bad about the offense and most of them fall on McVay, no doubt. But my point stands that a QB like Goff needs a quality center. Just like Brees does, and the Saints always makes sure he does. They don’t sit there and say we can scheme it away. That’s obtuse.

These people who constantly defend weak players on the OL think you can scheme an offense to the point of magically making bad players a nonissue even against quality DL. That will result in failure in the long term, and these people constantly explaining away the failure as non player related.

How about you actually watch how Blythe has consistently gotten destroyed by big physical DTs throughout his career.

Posting to again bring a recurring theme of mine to Rams GM Les Snead's attention:
(although, I gotta admit, the thread title is sorta timely too, eh!!)

MEMO TO LES SNEAD:
RAMS NEED A BIG FUGLY OC FOR 2021!!
SOMEBODY WHO DOESN'T GET 330 LB NTs UP IN GOFF's FACE (AND DIGITS).
AUSTIN BLYTHE IS NOT AN ANSWER AT THIS IMPORTANT POSTION.
BTW, AUSTIN CORBETT IS NO RICH SAUL....NOR A TOM MACK EITHER!!
YOU HAVE $34 MILLION OF 2021 SALARY CAP DINERO INVESTED IN GOFF. SMART GUYS DON'T PUT USED TIRES ON A PORSCHE!!!
HEY LES SNEAD....DRAFT SOME DAMN INTERIOR OL BEEF IN 2021, EH!!! :x

Indeed. Watching Blythe looking like he was “on the ice” for the first time snap after snap for the second week in a row was maddening. Anchrum was the RT when Havs went down. Gonna have to all22 watch him. We have to get some upgrades within the roster. OC isn’t on the roster at this time. We need a much stronger player there.
