He looked good. Denver's D is not that bad. It seems our backups are finally gelling.

Imagine if Mayfield was here when we were starting Wolford and Perkins. We might still be in the hunt.

Ya. If we had him staring at the Tampa game??? We are probably 8-7, 9-6 and the 6 or 7 seed. This dude has blown me away, frankly. And him and MCV are match made in heaven. I really hope he plays the long game and signs here as the #2. It will benefit him and the Rams. MCV will pull Staff in games where we are up enough and let Baker seal the deal. I think. Then Baker can pick his spot if the Rams stick with Staff, or take over the ship if Staff hangs them up.

The least talked about benefit to Baker kicking ass is how much it motivates Staff. That fucker is going to be scary next year. I MEAN SCARY GOOD.

Its a good news bad news scenario. It was nice to see the offense finally break out. But a good finish from Baker might mean he'll be moving on for a starting gig somewhere else.

In that scenario, at least there'd be a comp pick coming back to the Rams...

What other teams have former Rams coaches on offense, running this offense, that don’t have established franchise QBs?

Rogers, Cousins, Burrow. Did I leave any out?

Then look at all the teams that need an upgrade at QB.

Where would Baker go where he would flourish like he has, and will here?

We have that slim, sliver of hope he signs with the Rams. And if/when he moves on, we get the comp pick - like Elvis said.

Rather have Baker. But at least we will get something.

If I am Baker’s agent, I am talking to the Rams about Baker being the Starter once Staff retires/leaves team. I’m talking to Staff’s agent to gauge when that will possible happen.

Then make the best deal for Baker’s long term goals. Sure he wants $$. But he is highly competitive and wants to win and want to prove all doubters wrong about him.

The Rams could offer that. But it won’t be next season unless Staff changes his mind and retires, gets injured (🙏 not) and misses significant time, the Rams trade him.

Going to enjoy the next 2 games regardless and see where those chips fall in the off-season.

Agreed. The 2 QBs, the team and the agents all need to define their goals. This is a golden opportunity.
Imagine Baker splits and Staff gets banged up again. Due to age he hangs them up and we're back where we were a few games back,,,, non-competitive.

Pat McAfee said he's heard Baker is looking at houses in Indianapolis. Fact is, Baker wants to start. We may be able to convince him to sign somewhere short term, and come back once Staff retires. But will McVay stick around once Staff is gone? Maybe he wants to start a family and decides a cushy tv gig is better for that? Will Baker want to return if McVay isn't here?

It just feels like THIS is the window for Baker as a Ram. But we'd have to convince him to take a back seat to Stafford. I just can't see that happening. Let's just pray Stafford stays healthy next year, and that what ever the hell was wrong with his elbow has healed completely. He never looked good this year. I hope that was an anomaly. The exception to the rule.
