I'd been thinking Ben Johnson would be their guy, Boomer certainly thinks so:

And then there were four: Carolina, Atlanta, Seattle and Washington.

If Raheem does get a gig, which one will it be? Will there be any late, surprise HC firings?

I'd be surprised if Raheem gets a gig. The trend in the NFL is toward offensive minded coaches.

Yeah, that's the consensus opinion. Could change if Belichick and Vrabel get hired.

I was listening to an interesting discussion on Sirrius tonight with Polian. He said the process takes longer than many expect.

I always look at what teams are still alive and usually, their assistant coaches are on everybody's list. They're not going to announce Ben Johnson as the Washington head coach before Detroit is eliminated, are they? Then there's Mike McDonald, Ravens DC. Turned Michigan's defense around on the recommendation of John Harbaugh, then joined him in Baltimore. Certainly not going to announce he's the head coach of Seattle before the Ravens either get eliminated or win the SB.

Dan Quinn and Raheem are still out there. Vrabel is too. All 3 ex head coaches. All 3 defensive guys. There would be no issue announcing them as 'the new head coach' right now. So.....I don't know if Raheem, or those other two are gonna get a gig either. I'd love for Morris to get a gig but that's totally selfish. 3rd round pick in the draft. But he also deserves one.

And I'd think if Belichick was going to get a job, he'd have had it by now. Second interview? Why? "Here's my resume.....9 SBs, 6 Lombardi's. What do you want to know? Did I leave something off, like twenty 10 wins + seasons?" But Polian knows more than I do and he said, it's a long process.

Great defensive minded coaches hire great offensive coaches who fit with them and give them autonomy. Patriots come to mind. Raheem work hire someone like MCV, philosophically. I hope he stays. But if not, I hope we get an even better DC. That’s a tall order. All the changes factor into how good this team becomes next season and beyond. Can’t afford to regress.

As always, like with Detroit, if you get yourself a good one you're gonna lose him.

This is my opinion of course but nothing is more important than the passing game in today's NFL. If you have a coach who can get that done at a high level, you're ahead of the game and you need to keep that guy around.

I know there's a lot more to it, a lot of other factors but for my money, this is number 1...

Yeah, i'd imagine some of what's going on is teams waiting to see who gets Ben Johnson.

I heard some talk/speculation, maybe on Sirius, that an owner like Blank figures he doesn't have that long to live and wants to try and win a Lombardi sooner than later which is why Belichick or Vrabel would seem good to him...

And I guess if I owned a business worth 750 million (or more), it would be wise to take my time deciding on who's going to manage it. But what about us fans? We want to know NOW!!!! :lol2:

Well, if Raheem does get a gig, Fangio is now available. Dont know if MCV fits with him but it’s his D that basically inspired a lot of MCV’s scheme changes on both sides of the ball.
