Pro tips for visiting New Orleans

1) wear old shoes that you are willing to trash or leave at the hotel when you check out
2) make sure you have cash. Some bars are cash only AND/OR don't charge a cover. However they do pass a bucket or hat around during the set and you should throw a few bucks in.
3) you can have a perfectly fine time never setting foot on Bourbon Street. Other parts of the Quarter, Frenchemen Street or Magazine Street are fun without the crazyness.
4)while it is a complete tourist trap, the drinks at Pat O Briens are strong and good.
5)set a curfew for your group. Someone will want to see the sun rise from one of the many 24 hour bars. But then they ruin the next day.
6) weed is still illegal. $40 or $60 ticket if you smoke stupidly.
