If he's not in it, let him walk away.

I am sure Raheem or Thomas Brown are the succession (temp) plan, pretty simple really.

If you lose a minority for a promotion to another team you get a 3rd round comp pick. What if a minority coordinator promotes to head coach of the same team? Wouldn't you be losing a minority assistant?

Yeah Jourdan was alluding to that too...

It's a big story, everyone (including RFU) are going to talk about it.

And it's, no doubt a tough spot for McVay to be in.

I'm getting Naomi Osaka, Simone Biles vibes here. He's young and taking his mental health a lot more seriously than some of us older fans might think is a legitimate thing to do.

We'll see what's what soon enough.

There was a period where Orlando Pace would hold out every training camp, same with Donald. Fans would get pissed, want to wash their hands of them, but in the end, two all time Rams greats who played a big role in winning Lombardis...

Not a fan of that scenario. Just how much say would an Interim HC have? Can he boot assistants and hire new ones? What if McVay likes the ones that get booted? Interim HC would probably keep the status quo, I think this team needs an injection of new philosophies and personnel.

If McVay bolts, get on with life. Find a new HC, if that HC wants to flush all the assistants then do it.

AvengerRam wrote:Sure, he could just say "I'm coming back" and end all the speculation. But, what if he is thinking there is...say... a 5% chance he hangs it up. What's the right answer then? Should he say he's coming back and potentially make a liar of himself in the future? Should he say "no comment"?

"I'm coming back" and end all the speculation. Any other answer is a distraction to the team and the "we not me" philosophy.

If he decides to retire then he stands at the microphone and tells everyone his reasons. Seems simple enough. If people call him a liar, that's their problem. Life throws all of us curve balls, sometimes we get a little chin music high and tight at 100mph...explain your reasons for a change of heart and move on.

Is it at this point, though? If he takes a couple of weeks (or even a month) to detox, and then announces his intention to return, how would that adversely impact the team?

Could it be the wife-Ukraine connection more than anything else?

I don't know what "family" she has in Ukraine....mother/father? sisters? brothers? Imagine McVay coming home at night and she's upset, worrying, crying and he thinks he should be at home with her instead of at the complex 24/7? It's not as easy as, "I have millions, lets bring them to SoCal". Maybe they don't want to leave Ukraine? Just wondering. I don't have any knowledge of what part of her family is over there. Anybody know?

“What happens is you feel terrible about what’s going on with Ukraine, but unless you have family over there or it touches you in a very personal way, most people, their lives move on, which is an unfortunate thing but it’s the truth,” McVay told MMQB’s Albert Breer. “Not with us. This is an everyday part of our lives. That’s her family that’s there, that’s the country she grew up in and it’s been heavy to say the least. She’s been incredible with the way she’s handled it.”

“With everything comes perspective, and stuff that I’ve typically gotten upset about, you start to really say Does a bad third-down play-call or a couple things that go wrong in our line of work, is that really that big of a deal relative to some of the real s— we’ve seen that affects my family? Because her family is my family,” McVay added.

I wouldnt do that. There is a reason that our coaches get poached. I want to keep the system in place especially ends up being a hiatus type deal. The players love Raheem, would love to see continuity in the philosophy.
