I think Luck is staying retired forever, however...

In a heartbeat.

Rewatching the Packers game. About 11:20 left in the 4th, down 7. Goff hits Van Jeff on a shallow crosser (on 2nd or 3rd down) for a first down. Out of empty set with Akers wide right to the boundary side. Akers is WIDE open in the 9-route for a long TD. Goff had the time to make the throw. Just sad the dink and dunk mentality. And I mean he was wide open. The corner let him run right by and the safety was too flat underneath. All JG had to do was keep looking at VJ for a split second longer, then launch the fade to Akers. Tie game right there. Ugh

Goff's vision seems to be part of the problem. Too many times he misses the open guy and / or opts for the safer under routes.

And he is another guy who benefits greatly form the 'Donald double-team' effect… 'Doubt he will be as effective elsewhere… (Just like Fowler in Atlanta, these guys should be giving 99-Donald at least 20% of whatever they are paid at their next stop…)

As for 52-Lewis… It was why I wrote 'pray that {he} is healthy…'

Thanks for commenting…

Blue,
Understood, I agree Floyd really benefited from AD, but I feel he has a much better overall game than Fowler. I'm not sure we can get fortunate again replacing Floyd as we did with Fowler. The other edge havent shown much except for Obo IMO. We agree on Lewis.

I dont typically do this (after a loss) but I went back and watched the GB game, particularly the 4th Q. They were definitely going with the short throws. As it was the Rams o-line could barely keep the Green Bay 5 man front from getting to Goff. This again needs to be looked at. Do we get more size at center or guard or do need to have HB/TE/RB in to help. We need more downfield plays to keep the defense honest, but we need the time to do it. I think it is a little on Jared, a little on o-line (pass pro) and part of it scheme. McVay needs to go into the lab and find better ways to make teams pay. Jared also much work on his footwork/agility, overall pocket awareness and get back into looking downfield more, like the first couple drives of the game. The issue is....when teams know we have to pass, were dead.

Luck's talent, for sure. Going to all that trouble for a guy who was willing to just walk away from a playoff caliber team? No thanks.

i say we go after Stafford, that's cool. And if we can't get him, then maybe Wentz. If he's unavailable maybe Fitzpatrick. Anybody but Goff. Because anybody but Goff can run McVay]s offense. And if whomever we get, screws up and can't run McVay's offense, then next year there will be more available QBs to choose from. It's a no brainer.

There will be opportunities but it hinges on whether or not some team feels Goff is worth paying as a starter. Color me hopeful and skeptical.
