Yep. That had nothing to do with Donald.
On the flip side the Rams have a short term exemption for Donald so they kind of have a 54 man roster right now

The Rams have waived C JJ Dielman and DT Quinton Jefferson off their active roster. DT Aaron Donald coming off the exempt list gives them 52 players, so the Rams will add another. Also, C Jake Eldrenkamp was taken off the practice squad. They have an open spot there, too, which may eventually go to Dielman.
