Something clearly is going on but some of the conclusions people are jumping to are pretty whack...

My wife is Ukrainian and much of her family is in Ukraine. We send them clothes and sometimes money. It is scary but not much can be done from here.

And yet, pay walls are just such... such... capitalist imperial colonial white supremacy tools.

Agree..........no drama just a simple announcement he's coming back. To be quite honest I want McVay to stay along time; he's what made LA Ram football a thing again.

However, I must say he has handled the entire "should I leave or should I go" like an immature and petulant unprofessional. Drama now two years in a row, burnt out at 6 years as an NFL HC.????

He works in a terrific city with a $ 5 billion stadium, will soon have a state-of-the-art HQ, and one of the best owners in the NFL signing his checks. If he truly wants a legacy or to be elevated as one of the best NFL coaches of all time he needs to restore the team to prominence and see this thing through.

Build a new coaching structure if need be, delegate more, hire the coordinators and assistants that can help you but to bail at 6 years seems rather weak to me.

FWIW - Peter Schrager, on Good Morning Football, was talking this morning about the possibility of McVay stepping away from the Rams for one year and then coming back.

I just don't see a guy as competitive as McVay walking away after his first losing season. But if he does bail because of it, I would have a different opinion of him than I used to.

Let's assume that McVay is feeling a bit burned out, stressed by his new marriage (and his wife's connection to the Ukraine war), thinking about starting a family, and just wanting a break. Then, every person with a microphone who gets within thirty feet of him insists on asking him question after question about his future.

Sure, he could just say "I'm coming back" and end all the speculation. But, what if he is thinking there is...say... a 5% chance he hangs it up. What's the right answer then? Should he say he's coming back and potentially make a liar of himself in the future? Should he say "no comment"?

Give the guy a break. No matter how impatient fans are and how much the talking heads want to get the big "scoop," we'll all know when we know.

For the "let McVay take a year off and come back to the Rams refreshed" crowd:
-what type of coach are you going to get for that one year?
-what sort of effort will you get from players?
-how are you sure he's going to come back and that he'll be 100%?

If he's not in it, let him walk away.

For those talking about Payton, doesnt NO need a 1st Rd pick for him? Im not in favor or dumping more 1sts.

If SM is going to be the melodrama king year after year, then hes not worth it and just leave a move on. What doesnt make sense to me is if this is his mindset, then why did SM agree to a new deal and more importantly, why did the Rams offer it? It doesnt add up.

The team, players, and fans deserve a HC that wants the job, for life. At the start of this season I thought 10 Ws and a playoff bid was the ceiling. And Im not buying the injuries excuse. It was obvious from game 1 the team had nothing on the O-line and the offense was Kupp only. Id want the HC of my team to be super pissed after a season like this and want to start anew TODAY!

If SM does leave, then Id want to get another offensive minded HC. The game is only going to get more in favor of the O, and I think KCs Eric B deserves a shot and has LA roots.

Im in the Caleb Williams is the real deal team. Not saying he is going to be Mahomes, but I do believe he will be a Top 5 QB. Of course, its always based on right situation. Ive always said, if Joe Montana was drafted by Green Bay in 1979, most likely we only know him from ND games.

Anyway, I do hope SM pulls his head out, realizes he has one of the best of the "only 32" jobs in the world, gets over all this melodrama and bears down for the long haul. Sure, he knows if he walks he will get another shot, even with the Rams. I dont know about you, but it will certainly lower my opinion of SM. He sure is a winner, but Ill see him more as a quitter, just when things were getting tough and he was needed most.
