There is some work to do OL, Edge, secondary, RB. But the rest of the team is solid with good depth. If Baker plays great the rest of the way, someone will make him a starter. Our chances of keeping him as a QB 2 are pretty slim, IMO. We only sign him if Staff retires. So we will need a QB2.

But this team has enough to make some smart moves then we are back. Health, as always and as we have acutely seen this year, is critical.

Cant disagree, but I think the next four weeks impacts what next year brings for Baker as well. Also I think there is a slight chance that Baker says I like playing for McVay im not getting great offers, maybe I will ride this out until Staff retires....maybe

I look at 4 teams who don't have either....
a) an established vet playing fairly well, or
b) a young recently drafted prospect to take over

Indianapolis (Ryan)
NY Giants (Jones)
Washington (Heinecke)
New Orleans (Dalton)

Carolina is a 5th but obviously they're out

I don't see Baker wanting to go to Any of those places. I think he wants to play for a really good coach.

I think if we want him, he signs with us.

Well then he would be content with a clipboard instead of starting? Doesn't sound like Baker to me but what do I know?

He'll be playing behind a physically beat up QB, a guy who's been in the NFL 9 more years than he has. And has gotten beaten up for most of those 9 years.

They're a good chance Mayfield won't be holding a clip board for most of the games next year. I don't have a lot of confidence that Stafford will hold up for entire season going forward.

Don't get me wrong Max, I'd love it. I just don't see it IF Stafford is healthy.

Well, we have to define "healthy". Stafford is damaged physically, just a question of how much.

Yes the injuries killed the2022 Rams but they looked dead rather than hurt and opening day they were terrible at full(or mostly full) strength. Saw a spark last week against the Hags and now this. Could be a turning point. Just too bad it happened too late to save this season but at least, it seems, like something did happen. Whether or not they win another game this season they will play hard and I think have as good of a chance winning the rest as I thought they had a few weeks ago of losing the rest.

Concur. I think it is important to finish strong. Do that and it shows the rest of the league the RAMS hang tough and don't rollover. I think it is important for the reputation of the team.

GSOT and then the free fall that occurred afterwards demonstrated a franchise that can't get its act together...good sometimes, garbage most of the time.
