PARAM wrote:Rather than re-watching the game, take a look at NFL.com's "playbook"... not always 100% accurate......but whenever they passed, every pass was "short" until late in the 4th.

On a statement I read that "it seemed like things 'clicked' once Noteboom went down", of the first 9 runs after the injury, 6 went up the middle or right. The three that went left were Hendo getting 16 on 3rd and 15 going off tackle, Powell getting 3 on a jet sweep and Hendo getting 3 at LG.

Can they solidify the OL over the bye? And will they use the same varied playcalling with jets sweeps, screens and short passes?

It had nothing to do with Boom being replaced by AJax at LT in the run game.

It was the play calling that change the game.

We were getting stuff up the middle, in the first half going into the third quarter,

Boom went out early in the 2nd qtr, and we still tried to run it up the middle,

but couldn't gain many yards at all with Kolone & Oday in the middle,

we were getting stuffed

On the big chuck run plays, it was 3rd and long,

where the defense was playing for the long pass, and we ran it.

It started to change when McVay started to call more of the Jet Sweeps,

and screen, and Staff rolling out the pocket.

Our WRs accounted for over half of our rushing yardage vs Panthers. Kudos to McVay! 8-)

McVay will certainly earn his "offensive genius" title if can scheme around this 2022 Ram OL hot steaming pile of doo-doo situation. :idea2:

Sad Fact: The Interior of our IOL had zero push (with Aboushi-Kolone-Evans) on Ram run plays.
On passing downs they resembled the Polish Cavalry versus the Panzers in September 1939....
but,
other than that, they are aces. :? :arrow2: :roll2: :arrow2: :oops2:

I'm not a big fan of PFF,

But they must of been seeing the samething I was seeing with our OL.

The middle of our OL were on the bottom five offensive graded

As I stated, the play calling and scheme in the second half called by McVay,

helped out our OL, with Jet sweeps, screens and Staff roll outs.

Maybe it's just me, but I suddenly just felt better when I saw number 77 at LT.

And there is the first addition. Again, Snead has to comb Practice squads as no one is giving up a quality OL for less than over market value. Rams can’t pull that off, IMO.

Gonna have to scheme and dream with what we got and some new back ups acquired for depth.

T/Ty Nsekhe:

I think this is a great pickup coming off a PS

He had some time with McVay in 2015 & 16

If Ty can give us the same type of game he played back in 2018.

I'll be very happy.

Plus McVay can scheme up plays to help out the OL too.

Here's a 2018 game highlight Washington vs Texans:

Going against Clowney & J.J. Watts

Ty Nsekhe was a Snisher UDFA pickup back in 2012 and he got cut for making some dumb-ass disrespectful comment about US Military IIRC.....so Jeff Fisher cut his ass, rightfully so IMHO.

This guy Ty has seen a mediocre NFL career, with a highwater mark in Washington in 2018 and in Buffalo 2019 & 2020 where Ty guy averaged $3Million per year and played about one third the team snaps (per spotrac).

Last year in Dallas, he appeared in 12 games, No Starts, and played 145 snaps (11.8%).....
so Ty guy, like Oday guy......not exactly Charlie Cowan and Tom Mack. :?

In 2019, when the Ram OL was similarly snakebit by injuries to.....what a surprise....Noteboom and Allen......Les Snead pulled off a Don Klosterman move in landing former #33 pick overall in the 2018 NFL Draft, Austin Corbett, from the Cleveland Browns for a measly 5th Round Pick.
Sadly.....no such alchemist magic from Snead so far in 2022.
I mean really.....Aboushi and Nsehke are in essence, just a coupla NFL journeyman scrub palookahs.....
but as drab as Ty and Oday look.....at least they have a NFL regular season resume.....unlike like Kolone guy.
I laughed the other day when in the JB Long interview, JB asked if the pronunciation was "Cologne", or "Kolowni".......and I thought to myself.....

no, you pronounce it "siv" :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Some of us fretted about McSnead rolling the dice on the 2022 OL, especially when Bruss went down for the season. I remember thinking when Brian Allen was in TC sporting that RoboKneeBrace that weighed more than TuTu Atwell....."gee, that doesn't look promising." :(

Let's all hope....
that between Snead's dealmaking moxey and McVay's offensive scheming expertise that Los Ramos get some more effective play outa our 2022 OL Unit. :idea2:

Hey, post-season success doesn't have to come wrapped in goldleaf sportsfans.....I remember Ray Malavasi's 1979 LA Rams.........great D, and a popgun passing game, especially after Pat Haden nearly ripped his pinky finger off his right hand sliding in at the long torndown Kingdome in Seattle, when he caught it in a defective turf seam. We backed into the playoffs on Nolan Cromwell's fake FG end run for TD in OT vs the Vikings at season end, ambushed the Cowboys in Big D (thanks Billy Waddy!!), shutout Tampa 9-0 (thanks Cullen Bryant and whole Ram D) and were leading the media-darling Steelers in SBIV, 19-17 on Lawrence McCutheon's Halfback Option Pass to Ron Smith, right in front of my seat at the 10-yardline, in the 4th Quarter in Pasadena.
Let's just get into these 2022 Playoffs (unlike 2019!! :x ).....and THEN.....anything can happen!!! ;) :arrow2: 8-)

Cheers from sunny Vancouver, BC!
