I do believe Shottenheimer left on his own. (And I believe he sucked). But I also believe that nobody wanted the job because they knew fisher was gonna run his shitty brand of football.
And because he's an ego maniac he felt he could just plug a worthless coach in as OC like he did when he named Tim Walton as DC

I tend to agree with most of what you're saying, even though I may not yet have direct evidence. But one question, how do you know Cig is an a-hole with entitlement issues? I'm not doubting you, but what brought you to say this?

I'm pretty tied to Rutgers University.

Nick Foles is as bad or worse than the litany of backup QBs the Rams have played the past few years. Zero vision or touch

It's got to be more than just the QB's at this point though, doesn't it? If this team was put together well, then a mediocre QB would have at least got them by.

If it really is just the QB, then someone needs to be fired because they should have stumbled on mediocre by now just by accident.

Exactly. This team does not help a QB look his best. Why is that?

And there are people out there who still complain about what Martz does to QB's. Well, at least they put points on the board in his system.

I'll grant it that the Rams receivers are awful, Kenny Britt as a number 1 WR and Jared Cook as your TE is expansion team quality, but Nick Foles looked terrible yesterday. Absolutely awful. He wasn't progressing through his reads, his passes were either forced into ridiculously small windows or at the sidelines. When guys were semi open he was overthrowing guys or short hopping guys. He looked like Bradford that one Monday night game against the Niners a couple years ago on Monday night, but against a very average Chicago defense.

Eagles seemed really quick to move on from this guy, and it shows.

There was an early pregame article on Tom Brady yesterday (I know, can you imagine that?). The expose brought to light the timing and mostly the velocity and accuracy of his throws. The ball get's to the receivers faster and in a place that allows the receiver to escape than all other QB's. It's a matter of split seconds.
SoCal. That is one thing I always liked about Martz and Kelly. The teams seemed juiced up and are moving at a quicker, 2 min warning, 'no huddle' type pace. Everything is moving faster. The Rams are now more ground and pound and attempting to beat you physically,,, with the exception of Mr And misdirection plays to Austin.

Well, I'm sorry to hear this about Cignetti. I didn't know it was this bad. This really puts Fisher's decision-making ability into question, especially when there were some really good offensive minds available this past offseason.

Yes but did those minds even consider the Rams position?

Perhaps not. But the implication of this are perhaps even more damning

This is why i started this thread. How did the hiring really go down?

Either way, it doesn't look great for Fisher.

Maybe he wanted an inside guy and greater control of the offense.

Or maybe no one else really wanted to coach under Fisher, including Schottenheimer...
