I hope his locker room issues are a Florida only thing.

QFTOS: Jags / NFL Edition...

JAGS
to the Rams for a 3rd and a 5th. Considering they are going to be late in the round picks I don't think this was enough.

Whoa, seriously?! To the Rams?

How are the Rams affording this?

He is on a rookie contract right now, resining him after this season will be the hard part.

Wow, late 3rd and 5th round picks for the 3rd overall pick in the draft 3 years ago?
Again, how does David Caldwell still have a job? Good God!

Maybe it gives us a bit of ammo to move up in the first round for a QB

We weren't re-signing him at the end of the season, so getting something for a guy who has been, for the most part, underwhelming is a good thing.

Again, how does David Caldwell still have a job? Good God!

He is stupid but Khan is even more stupid and will retain him.

this is now 2 top 5 picks Caldwell has made that are no longer on the roster. That isn't acceptable.

No brainer deal, think he'll do better in LA too.

This says a lot. Let the mini-rebuild begin. Up next, QB.

we got considerably more than he would have returned as a compensatory pick.

49ers
Rams get even better.

Rams making us look like a peewee football team.

Rams trade a 3rd and 5th for Dante Fowler... :(

Aint's
Bring it. Better players than him have tried to get to Brees.

donald, brockers, fowler, suh. hope our OL is ready.

Just in time for our game....

The Rams have turned into the NBA and buying a championship.

For a 3rd and a 5th.
Former 3rd overall pick I believe.

If we come out the NFC this year, there's no doubt in my mind this will be greatest Saints team of all time cuz our path is a warzone this year.

The new blueprint is to load up a team with expensive players while the quarterback is on a rookie contract. We're doing the opposite. We're loading up a team with draft picks, middle tier free agents, etc with a aging QB.

Gonna be a dogfight in the NFC: Saints, Rams and Eagles are trying to win NOW

I get that Goff is still on his rookie deal, but just Donald and Suh alone make grip

I understand the urgency on our part, but not so much on theirs.

He's going to get a good amount of sacks just off single blocking because of Suh and Donald and he's definitely capable of that. Last year he had 8 sacks playing with a similar talented Jags defense.

This will either be a steal or complete bust for the Rams (nothing in between) IMO.

He's a legit outside pass rusher. And helps solve the biggest problem area on their team. Good trade for them.

I have faith in Brees and the OL nullifying this addition

it does in fact make them better since the edge was a weak spot.

Good move once again. If Fowler contributes to this defense Snead has to be the unanimous choice for GM of the year. I never knew if it was him or Fisher with all the past personnel decisions. Now I know it was Fisher. Stan turned Les loose on the league and he's taking no prisoners!

How much cap space did we have before the trade? According to spotrac, which already shows Fowler being a Ram, his 2018 salary and cap hit is $1,926,114. Does that represent the whole year or only the remaining 8 games?

fwiw pff currently has fowler ranked 34th among edge rushers, 6 clicks above ebukam (40th), it's fowler's highest annual pff grade/ranking by far, they ranked him below average in each of his previous years.

If I’m not mistaken, should he leave next year in FA, the Rams will likely get a comp pick back in 2020.

Win/win

KC declined Peters 5th year option and then we exercised it. I'm gonna assume that's not an option for us with Fowler this late in the game?

The Los Angeles Rams are effectively going all in on 2018 just days after they took down the Green Bay Packers. Los Angeles has traded their 2019 third-round pick as well as their 2020 fifth-round pick for former Jacksonville edge defender Dante Fowler, per Adam Schefter.

Jacksonville maintained one of the league’s best defenses, but LA has no shortage of defensive talent. Fowler will play alongside Aaron Donald, the highest-graded player in the NFL (95.6), who’s also second in the league in quarterback pressures (47). Los Angeles boasts one of the most talented defensive lines in the NFL pairing defensive interiors Donald and Ndamukong Suh, but they lack talent at the edge defender position. The Rams’ edge defender with the highest pass-rush grade is Samson Ebukam (72.3), who ranks 29th in the NFL. Los Angeles receives an immediate upgrade at the position with Fowler, who was the odd man out in Jacksonville.

Fowler has had the best season of his career as a pass-rusher, earning a career-high 82.7 pass-rush grade through Week 8. This mark is good enough for seventh in the league among edge defenders (with no snap restrictions), just one place behind Khalil Mack’s 83.8 pass-rush grade.

The writing was on the wall for the Jags’ 2015 first-rounder, as Fowler has only played 165 snaps this season. Yet, he has seized the opportunities he has been given. Fowler’s pressure percentage (14.8) ranks T-12th among edge defenders with 100-plus pass-rush snaps.

Fowler’s 2018 production, however, is an outlier compared to the start of his NFL career. Among the 65 edge defenders with 500 pass-rush snaps in 2016 and 2017 combined, Fowler ranks T-47th in pressure percentage (10.6).

The former first-round pick is in the fourth year of his rookie deal and has high upside in a talent-laden Rams defense. He should make an immediate effect pressuring opposing quarterbacks and further solidify the Rams’ identity as the class of the NFL.

Fowler was selected in the first round with the third overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2015 NFL Draft.[8][9]

Jacksonville Jaguars
On May 8, 2015, Fowler tore his ACL on the first day of mini-camp and missed the entirety of his rookie season.[10][11] On May 12, four days after tearing his ACL, Fowler signed a fully guaranteed four-year, $23.5 million contract, with a $15.3 million signing bonus.[12]

After being out for his entire rookie year due to his ACL injury, Fowler finally made his long-waited debut on September 11, 2016 in the game against the Green Bay Packers, where he made three tackles (one for a loss) as the Jaguars lost the game 27–23.[13] He ended his first official season playing in all 16 games with one start, recording 32 tackles, 4.0 sacks, and five passes defensed.

On September 10, 2017, in the 29–7 season opening victory over the Houston Texans, Fowler had a stellar game. He had a 53-yard fumble return for a touchdown near the end of the first half. The touchdown was the first one of Fowler's professional career. Late in the third quarter, Fowler forced a fumble off of quarterback Deshaun Watson, which was recovered by teammate Yannick Ngakoue.[14][15]

On May 2, 2018, the Jaguars declined the fifth-year option on Fowler's contract, making him a free agent in 2019.[16] On July 20, 2018, Fowler was suspended for one game due to violating the league's personal conduct policy.[17]

Legal issues
On July 18, 2017, Fowler was arrested in St. Petersburg, Florida for simple battery and committing mischief. Fowler confronted a man who commented about his driving, struck the man, broke his glasses, and threw a bag containing liquor into a lake. He was released from jail the next day on a $650 bond.[19] On March 1, 2018, Fowler was sentenced to one year probation, 75 hours of community service, and $2575 in fines after pleading no contest to battery, criminal mischief, and petty theft.[20]
