I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of anyone on 980, and Fred isn't the exception.. I listen to various different reporters, and all of them just annoy the hell out of me. I trust him as a reporter, because he's been around for so long, and his reputation is important to himself, but that doesn't make him any less of a douche (personality wise)... This is just another douchey thing.

Way, way, way back in the day, before satellite Radio, I remember Stern doing something similar during contract talks, playing coy, suggesting that he might be leaving. Contract fixed and he didn't leave. I remember Jim Rome doing the same act -- I think several times. To me, just seems like a radio and ego thing to do. If Fred's moving to drive-time, good for him!

Also way, way back in the day, it occurred to me that people listened to Hacksaw Hamilton to be annoyed. Vanilla gets no ratings.

Thanks for the note. We’ll have answers today at 12:30p.

We’d hope that some sound drops and radio imaging wouldn’t really bring Fred’s reporting into question. There has been no one more on top of this story than him and he talks to people so high up in the league.

Trust me. The NFL reports are solid gold.

Glad he's staying but for me I won't be able to listen live anymore. I am in Florida so 6 to 9 is tough

C'mon Ripper, you can get up at 3 am to listen to Fred. lol
So could his difficulty be that he conducts a 11: 15 nightly live LA sports broadcast and does morning news bites, and now he has to get up at 5:00 am at the latest after going to bed at 12:00 midnight at the earliest. That won't work long term so something else had to give.
