With an 0-7 record Goff hasn't done anything worthy of being named captain yet. Whitworth has experience and I understand has become a locker room leader. Felt goo about Gurley being named. Despite a poor 2016 he has credentials.

Goff was'nt playing by himself when he went 0-7. I doubt that was the reason. I admit it is odd. maybe because he's so young.

Is it odd that the team didn't vote for Goff? Is the QB on most teams typically voted a captain? Thanks.

Considering how the team drafted and is supposedly building around Goff, it seems odd to me that he isn't a captain. He's supposedly the face of the franchise and this is "his" team.

Yeah, but Gurley was born in August, Goff in October. Those two months really show in leadership.

Good point, not sure, like i said it is odd. Maybe because Goff does'nt know where the sun rise's and sets.

goff will be one of the very few nfl qbs not tabbed a team captain, at least for week 1... the team captain thing is such a mishmash proposition, some teams choose not to sport the captain patches, for the sake of team unity, some teams don't change captains every week, some teams have coaches pick the captains, and the number of captains tend to vary from team to team, which kinda makes you wonder why the rams settled on 3 defensive captains but just 2 offensive captains, it's not as if 6 is set in stone and hekker got the 6th spot, the rams could have 10 teams captains if they wanted...

“Yeah, we let the players vote on the captains and what we did was we had the top-six vote getters, so we had three guys on defense, two on offense, one on special teams. It was (P) Johnny Hekker on special teams. Offensively, it was (T) Andrew Whitworth and (RB) Todd Gurley. Defensively, it was (CB Trumaine Johnson was one of them, (OLB) Connor Barwin and then (LB) Alec Ogletree. So, a great representation of guys that have done things the right way. I could be wrong, but I think Fisher/the coaches named the captains last season.
