Based on the article, I think the NFL would be hard pressed to suspend Higbee since he could argue he was defending girlfriend.

He pleaded guilty to assault
I'd rather they suspend him, let it be part of the solution. NFL shouldn't be the arbitrators of what kind of assault is ok

I'm pretty sure the NFL doesn't suspend players for stuff that happened before they were in the NFL but we'll see.

In the case of Pryor, Goodell made it clear it was about him violating NFL rules:

"I believe it is a fair conclusion that he intentionally took steps to ensure that he would be declared ineligible for further college play and would be able to enter the NFL via the supplemental draft," Goodell said in a news release. "Taken as a whole, I found that this conduct was tantamount to a deliberate manipulation of our eligibility rules in a way that distorts the underlying principles and calls into question the integrity of those rules."

I do not think the NFL can do anything about what a guy does before the draft. Look at the Okla rb (Mixon) who got drafted this year. He isn't facing any type of suspension either.
FWIW, I think the guy deserved what Higby did to him. To harass a guy's girlfriend like that, and then to follow them is asking for trouble.

Bowling Green, KY (WNKY-TV) We are learning the girlfriend of a former WKU football star who allegedly assaulted a man outside a bar was also arrested Sunday. 23-year-old Mollie Pajakowski was arrested for alcohol intoxication in a public place after her boyfriend, 24-year-old Tyler Higbee, a former tight end for WKU and a leading NFL draft pick, punched Nawaf Alsaleh in the face, knocking him unconscious, causing his brain to hemorrhage outside of Tidballs in Bowling Green. Both Pajakowski and Higbee were released from the Warren County Jail Sunday. Higbee is facing charges for assault, fleeing and evading police and public intoxication. His attorney says Higbee punched Alsaleh in defense of Pajakowski. Higbee will be in court May 5th. Skyline Medical Center officials confirm Alsaleh is still a patient and is in serious condition.

Mixon was convicted and served his time 3 years ago. Totally different

I would think if the Rams had a dog in this fight.....and they do.....they would have run it by the Commisioner. Would pleading guilty, getting a plea deal, pay a fine and perform 500 hours of community service keep him off the suspended list? Otherwise, fight it. He's actually fortunate either way. More than a few manslaughter charges began with one punch to the head and ended with one head to the concrete (or boulder, or bumper, or.....).

Is that a mugshot in an orange jumpsuit? WTF? Well maybe that's been taken into account by the NFL.
