If Fisher were to return in 2017 my opinion of Kroenke Will drastically change. But for now I think he's been all you can ask of an owner. (St Louis understandably disagrees)

E. Stash uses his labor costs like we use locked doors. Each insulates from us danger. Acceptable risk. Glad he's the owner, but not my type. I'd like a little football related passion from the velvet lined suite.

I think Demoff is the problem. He has too much power now for a guy who knows nothing about football. And his ties to Fisher through his father are problematic despite his argument to the contrary.

I am sure if Demoff "advised" Kroenke that it's not in the organizations best interest to retain Fisher then Kroenke would give Demoff the go ahead to release Fisher.

Will Demoff take that action? We shall see. I guarantee you that if Kroenke told Demoff that his job was on the line if Fisher failed again next year that Demoff would drop Fisher like a hot potato.

I'm one of the StanK sucks guys. I don't think he cares if a team wins, just if he makes money.

For the most part this is true. He already has too (with the Rams to LA) .

I think he might like winning more than he gets credit for though. Dude is competitive and was a jock in his younger days.
Just a hunch that the L's bother him too. Especially in LA as they are still building back the brand.

Still the aspect of him which you and 69Superbowl eluded to is also reality.

I do think the losing bothers him, and I especially believe that he's aware that L.A. is different than St. Louis. Not to say the fans in STL didn't want to win, I just think that his path to financial success in L.A. is tied to the new stadium and what will be ultra-highly expensive PSLs. And the fact that the culture of losing is going to affect that cannot be lost on him. It's just that, because of his experience in business, and real estate, he has learned to take the long view. And sports fans always take the immediate, what-have-you-done-for-me-lately view. So it makes it appear that he doesn't care about winning. I believe he does (though I have no evidence of that, I admit). It's just my opinion.

OldSchool wrote:Being a 25+ year Arsenal fan it's amazingly humorous that people point to Arsenal and say they suck and Kroenke ruined them. Fact is Arsenal has the manager with the 2nd most wins ever in Premier League history. The way managers work there they're basically head coach and GM. Fact is the Arsenal spent the 4th most money in their transfer window (read free agency). The Manager has full control and does what he wants to. The problem lies in Arsenal, including Wenger the current managers time, has a very rich history including the Invincible's who went a whole season undefeated and they haven't won the league title since 2004. Now they also haven't finished outside of the top 4 in the league in that stretch but no league championships have some fans irritated in spite of the fact the team competes for the title every year, they're currently 2nd in the league and the only team to beat the guys ahead of them. Now I'd bet every Rams fan anywhere that if we were in the NFCCG every year but never won it they'd be happy, I know some are just so negative they'd never be happy. But being one of the best teams in the world in their sport and it has a ton more competition than the Rams do in the NFL isn't good enough for some people. Some people are just lazy and look at they haven't won a title in a long time and assume that means they're not good. Arsenal are one of the best teams in the world and have 2 of the best players in the world and pay them as such. Aresnal's faults are not to be laid at Kroenke's feet it's all on Arsne Wenger.

Sorry long answer to the Arsenal question but it's something very personal to me having been a soccer and Arsenal fan for so very long.

Thank you for providing a soccer fan's view. I'll throw in a couple more. A previous poster mentioned Arsenal having won the FA cup. A lot of people who don't follow soccer see that and think that's winning a title. It's not. There are a lot of tournaments throughout the course of a soccer season (which runs from late August through late May). The FA cup is one of these, and while it's great to win it, it doesn't mean all that much. But the fact that Arsenal has finished in the top 4 in the Premier League every year means that they stay in the European Champions League tournament -- and that's huge. All the best players in the world want to be able to compete in the Champions League, and will very often refuse to consider signing with a team that is not in it. Arsenal is in it every year, so they have access to all the best free agents.

Another thing about soccer is that it is not infrequent to see big-name coaches sign with new teams and be given one year (sometimes less) to produce results. In the NFL, we're accustomed to the 3-year contract for a coach. We're surprised when coaches are fired after only one year. Not in soccer. The imperative for the top teams to win, win often, and win now, is immediate. One team in Italy's top league, Serie A, changed coaches 9 times last season (Palermo). That's unusual, VERY unusual, but Palermo was desperately trying to keep from being relegated to Serie B (had to finish above the bottom 3). So soccer fans are accustomed to coaching changes, and Arsenal just doesn't do that. 9 managerial changes at Arsenal gets you back to 1976. Soccer fans like to complain, and the English fans like to complain about Arsene Wenger hanging onto his job so long, and they like to complain about having an American owner and everything he does, and everything he doesn't do. Details are a little different for soccer fans. But the bottom line is they want to win. Imagine that.

He's good at delegating.

He just has to delegate to someone better than Fisher...

It's strange that the Rams don't announce the Fisher extension.

Who the fuck knows with this team but I get the feeling Fisher will be gone 4 weeks from today on black Monday.
