Vermeil goes number 1 because he won our only SB.

But Martz was my favorite and i strongly doubt DV ever gets a ring without him.

Spags was the worst.

I didn't really start paying attention till '79 so i missed the greatness of guys like Allen and Knox 1.0...

What makes you say that?

Has nothing to do with this thread. And I'm never on that site. Are you advertising that site for some reason?

What gives Jack?

I really liked Martz until I saw his fatal flaws. And the way he botched the playoff game against the panthers was utter lunacy.

Knox and Robinson were effective. Knox 2 not so much.
I'd say you put Fisher in the proper spot just below Malavasi & Robinson.
Check the thread title. ;)

Malavasi was the coach when I started recognizing who the coach was. Lol.
Vermeil is over rated IMO but still the 2nd best because of the SB
His tenure was a train wreck prior to Martz

Its hard to rank, cause every case is different,
I'll go back as far as the George Allen days,
before then, I couldn't tell you.

I look at coaches what they came in with,
and how they turned the team around,
and what they did with that team.

1. DV has to be on top for me, cause he took over a team that he had to rebuild, and won a SB. After DV left, Martz took over but was rebuilt by DV.

2. Knox built his team, and it was well known as ground Chuck and his great D-line.
After Chuck, came in Malavasi, but he took over a team that was mostly built by Chuck.

3. Robinson, built a nice team, with great O-line that continue from the 70s to the 80s

4. Allen, he rebuilt this team with the Fearsome Foursome. and the O-line.
He knew to win, you have to win in the trenches.

5. I'll give it a three way tie for now. Fisher, Martz, Malavasi.

as far as Fisher goes, yes people like to look at his record for being .500,
but he does it while he is totally rebuilding his team,

Without having a QBs. I don't count Sam Bradford as being a good QB, cause he was injured for two years and then traded.

This is Fishers 5th year, if he brings this team to the playoffs, I'll keep him right here, instead of moving him down.

I'll give him his own spot and he could move him up the list,
if he continually starts making the playoffs. and wins a SB

For Malavasi and Martz, they are both on the same boat, taking over two good teams, and bringing them to the SB..

So its hard for me to give them any credit for doing both. So I rank these last three coaches at number five for right now.

1. Vermeil.....how the guy who won a Superbowl isn't ranked #1, is beyond me. Perhaps if he didn't retire we wouldn't have just 1.
2. Martz.......how the guy who ran the offense for #1, then got the team back in 2 years later isn't #2 is beyond me.
3. Malavasi.....took CK's team and did what CK couldn't do....get to the big dance
4. Allen.........The guy's record is simply remarkable......sans postseason
4a. Knox 1.......Like Allen, great record.....bad postseason record
5. Robinson......longevity and a good record
6. Prothro.....under valued...followed a legend, preceeded Knox...drafted Youngblood, Robertson, McCutcheon, Brooks
7. Fisher.....could vault to #6 with a good season.....#5 if he does the impossible
8. Brooks
9. Linehan
10. Knox 2.0

Dishonorable mention: Spags

*Agree with Spags PA. Those were dark days.
*Tommy drafted better than his teams performed. The was a W drop of in his years though.
*I never thought MM was that great a HC but his offense is for the ages. It took a while for teams to figure out how to draft and defend it.
*Knox 2.0 wasn't very effective was he but he is still CK. (not Case)
*Loved coach Allen, I might put him higher just based on the iconic factor. I was so bummed when he went to Wash with 1/2 our D.
*Fisher is underwhelming me when reading many of these names.
