Welcome to the board Lipcrkr76, and you're right, Inglewood has been kicking butt for a while now, thanks in large part to Mayor Butts...

Site/Construction

Again the pics don't show everything. From what I saw there's a lot of activity going on. I counted about 30 workers in various parts of the site doing construction work. I don't know exactly what they're doing because construction is not my level of expertise but they're working. Whatever they're doing cost money a lot of money and it seems like they're prepping to break ground in the coming months. There's not a lot to clean up. It's flat and ready to start construction. They're just doing power and water lines, pipes etc. The interesting part is, they're not building big housing and buildings yet. Like hotel, condos and etc. I think they'll start the stadium construction first because the structure is in the middle and they'll just work out to the edges. Mayor Butts was on Roggins show a while back and Fred asked him what will start first and Butts said the stadium. Bc once the stadium is complete the housing prices around the site will be much higher Bc there's a stadium complete already. It also make a ton of sense to start from the middle build the stadium and after just start building everything. The vibe that I got just from looking around is there not building things yet. There's no big wood structures for the hotel and condos yet. It's just the infrastructure around the site and it seems to me the stadium will go up first. Perhaps the hotel first then the stadium I don't know but December is a few months out. The land is flat. That being said I couldn't see everything so who knows maybe theres 200 workers and they're digging a huge hole for the stadium I don't know I didn't see the whole 298 acres. I don't know what Carson is up too and I don't know if they're doing the same things but the Inglewood project has started. They might build a stadium they might build a 298 acre pool or they might built Sea World I don't know but they're definitely getting ready to build something big and fast. When people like Jed York and Jerry Jones say Inglewood could break ground tomorrow, they're not lying. It's true it's flat it's ready. Once the permits and paperwork is complete they could start.

Final thoughts
I've always been confident about a stadium being built in Inglewood and after yesterday I'm even more confident. I assure you if anyone goes and drives around the site you'll feel the same way I do. There's a flurry of activity going on and the vibe is positive. They'll break ground in December I promise you.

Great pics and they're getting busy. One thing i want to correct you on...........Inglewood is no longer majority African-American.
Inglewood is about 50% Hispanic, 43% African-American, 26% other, 23% White, and the rest Native Americans, Samoan, etc.
Inglewood is now a thriving community with people from different ethnicities.
The city is young, has hard working people, and the city is no longer a haven for the bad seeds that were a part of Inglewood in the past. The City of Inglewood and South LA are different entities.
The Stadium and Project has guaranteed about 35% or more employing Inglewood residents.
The Project, with Stadium, Parks, Lakes, Retail, Hotels, Venues, etc.etc. will be unlike anything ever built. I look forward to being one of the 35% or more residents employed there.

I apologize, you're probably right I don't know the number. I was driving around for an hour and I just saw a lot of African Americans but you're right. I can't judge the Inglewood community. I've just been there once and only for a few hours. Not enough to get a real feel of the city but it wasn't what I imangined. From what I saw it was a nice friendly community and they're ready for football!

Me too. I got two of 'em. One is a '73 F-250, covered in surface rust, lichen, moss, dirt...I still drive it 50 miles a week.

BEAUTIFUL. I love classic vehicles.

Thx BRT. I really liked the pic with the Forum in the background.

the roof they talked about putting over the field being some kind of advanced plexi-'glass being used as a huge lit up bill board that the incoming flights landing at LAX can see, I;m wondering how much income that will generate in advertising? Will the other owners get a cut of that? just thinking if it does it might sway some of the owners votes.

It's too early to tell guys. this is the infrastructure part. Around the perimeter is likely the new city of champions water, gas, mains and huge sewers / surface drainage, pumps, vaults, huge conduit to hold enough wire to power a city, all that ties into public utilities at one end and then branch down to the end service points through out the project.
These branches will be placed in relationship to the developments layout. As the contractors move inward towards the termination (service) points there will be evidence of the layout.
If any surface grids run through the area where the "crater" is located (especially water mains and gravity sewers), that would be a red flag.(bad)
The day the definition of the stadium becomes more clear, once it's that far, they're going for it. If the hole becomes apparent, Carson is exposed toast and gentlemen,,, it's on.

Thanks Guys. From 2010 to 2013, Inglewood has changed just like Cali has changed having the majority being Hispanic. But the good thing is Inglewood is now diverse. We are all blue collar people who want the Stadium built in our back yard. This community loves sports, the Lakers and Clips, the Dodgers, and with the success of the LA Kings these last few years, and obviously soccer is a big part of the equation, and lets not forget USC/UCLA.
Stan is looking at the whole picture, an 80,000 seat stadium for football, which can also expand to 100,000 for Super Bowls, Olympics, Final 4's, College Football, Concerts, etc.
The great thing is people who may not be able to afford going to the game, can still feel part of it by being at the parks, shopping, sitting by the lake, living in the new housing area, etc, because you will be allowed to enjoy the festivities even if you can't get into the game. The Stadium is just one part of the Project.
That's why this is so awesome.

1972, wow.

I was 10 when the Lakers won that title, pretty sure i went to a few games that year, if not, definitely the next year. I was at the one where Wilt got his 10,000th rebound. I remember that..
