It's kind of sad that Kelly has to match or top 10+ wins AND have post season success while Fisher is virtually untouchable. Hasn't even hit .500 with the Rams and his job is safe.

I don't think he will get fired, IMO, he will decide to return to college and keep in mind Chip has as many post season victories as Fisher has had in St. Louis...A big fat 0!

Don't you think that's a bit misleading though? The Eagles won 10 games in 2014 and scored 474 points and didn't make the playoffs. That shouldn't be an indictment against Kelly, just bad luck.

Sure, Kelly and Fisher have both failed to win a playoff game but Kelly's got there once and should have twice in just two years. Fisher's had 3 years and the Rams' record has declined each year.

One can never say never but if a coach is averaging 10 wins a year for your team, then I don't think he should be fired. If he struggles to reach .500 year after year, then I think his seat should get warmer each year.

Well, I'm not a Fisher proponent and I'm not sure he can take the Rams to the next level, but he undoubtedly has improved the talent on the team and was a major upgrade over milquetoast Linehan and the controlling Spagnuolo.

As to Kelly I don't debate his ability to coach offense, but I'm not ready to genuflect just because Chip knows offense. His Oregon teams won too until it counted and I'm not convinced his offense is good for the defense. The Eagle defense has had issues under his watch as well.

Now I always prefer an offensive coach over a defensive coach and when it comes to Super Bowl victories I believe offensive Head Coaches hold the edge over defensive head coaches especially with the likes of Lombardi, Walsh & Gibbs and their offensive backgrounds, but to date Kelly has as many post season victories as Fisher has had with the Rams and although Kelly took over a team that only won 4 games there is no debating it had better talent than the mess Fisher took over although I offer no excuses for Fisher, it's time to win and if he can't have at the very minimum a winning record in year four I would go in another direction, but IMO, Kroenke won't.

For Fisher I don't think our owner is the type to fire a guy before his contract is up and have to pay him money to not coach anymore. His contract is through 2016 and if I were betting on it I'd say he'll coach through 2016. If he's winning in 2016 he'll get an extension if not he won't be retained. I don't see Stan throwing $7 million away for 2016 because he fires Fisher.

At 5 Dimes, Fisher's job is safer than Kelly's: +2500 vs. +2000.

Fisher benefits from relocation and low expectations. It's just hard to see the Rams making a change with everything else that's going on.

Kelly's a live wire, rumored to be feuding with FO last year and expectations in Phili are high. Maybe not fair, that that's the way it goes sometimes.

Another flyer/longshot possibility might be Lovie Smith. Yeah they got the rookie QB but if they get off to another miserable start, i could see him getting the axe. I mean is Lovie Smith really the right coach to develop a #1 pick QB? Not really his forte...

At first, I thought Tomsula. But I got the feeling that Frisco ownership and upper management will try to force it to work there -- hopefully to hilariously disastrous results.

So, it's Philbin. Seems like he's been off/on hotseat several times. Philbin wasn't the owner's first choice. Also they just dropped big coin on stadium renovations and I can see the owner coming up with the (un-)brilliant idea that, well the team isn't doing well, we're not drawing, let's fire the coach!

Yes, I know no one asked, but: Chip Kelly is no longer under the NCAA show cause order. I think some SEC program could probably offer him a hefty raise from the Eagles gig. I think he'll have options whether he's fired or not.

Interesting how one guy might have his fourth losing season in a row and another guy had some success and the latter gets fired. I can see Jason Garrett on the hot seat if the Cowboys don't make the playoffs. And the way the off season went for Kelly he better do something good or he'll be on the hot seat.

Dolphins fire coach Joe Philbin after 1-3 start

The Miami Dolphins fired coach Joe Philbin on Monday after a 1-3 start to the season, league sources confirmed to ESPN.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel had earlier reported Philbin's firing.

Philbin, 24-28 in Miami since taking over in 2012, became the first head coach in the NFL to lose his job this season.

The Dolphins entered this year with high expectations but looked mostly uninspired and disorganized during their current three-game losing streak. Miami has been outscored 91-48 during that stretch.

Philbin met with Dolphins owner Stephen Ross on Sunday in London after a 27-14 loss to the New York Jets, and said afterward that he was confident in his job security. Ross, however, had other thoughts once the team returned to the United States.

Dolphins tight ends coach Dan Campbell will serve as Miami's interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

Philbin's firing after his team's loss in London marks the second straight season an NFL coach has lost his job following a lackluster performance at Wembley Stadium. In 2014, the Raiders fired coach Dennis Allen after his team was embarrassed by Philbin's Dolphins 38-14 before an international audience.

On Sunday, the Dolphins lost to a Jets team coached by Todd Bowles, who was passed over for the Dolphins' coaching job in favor of Philbin in 2012. Bowles finished the 2011 season 2-1 as the Dolphins' interim coach after he replaced the fired Tony Sparano.

The Dolphins have been awful on both sides of the football. Miami is ranked No. 23 in total offense and No. 30 in total defense, including dead last against the run at 160.5 rushing yards per game despite the addition of Pro Bowl defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Philbin is 4-8 in his past 12 games dating back to last season.

Philbin survived the Dolphins' bullying scandal two years ago and the team's late-season collapses in 2013 and 2014. He received a contract extension earlier this year that will pay him through the 2016 season.
