Besides the Obvious - he's a poor manager.
The latest rumors I've heard - say he is looking in Las Vegas (UNLV), joint stadium, and the other, is to become an ALL ROAD TEAM.
This guy seems to miss the complete obvious answer to his problem.
IF he wants to keep the team (as it's owned now), why not just move it - to the Edward Jones Dome ??
You've got a place to play this year, and a New Stadium plan which could get him a NEW stadium by 2019.
..
I do not think he can afford to pay the relocation fee (and then pony up the additional fee to help build) by himself (and his partners will not help him pay it).
..
This guy seems like a total mess, as an owner.
Is he making any money at all ??
..
IF MLB can force Marge Schotz to sell the Reds - why can't the NFL tell Mark Davis to sell the Raiders.
I think this stadium issue ONLY gets resolved - until Davis is gone.

MLB has more control over there owners because of their antitrust exemption but MLB didn't didn't force Marge Schott out. MLB made it difficult but in the end it was the other partners in the team that ousted her.

St Louis isn't an option for any owner at this point. The Dome isn't a viable alternative and the current proposal from St Louis is not acceptable to the finance committee, even with a committed owner. The other problem is that the NFL has had too many problems with the market going back to when the Cardinals were in the city. The NFL was done with St Louis after expansion. It took an extremely team friendly deal to allow the Rams to move and that's what's going to be required for another one to relocate to the market which would include stadium guarantees pre-funded.

I once felt the same way about Davis but as it turns out he's very much in control of his team and the situation. He has developed great relationships with multiple communities across California and in other states that have the potential to be an NFL market. It's true that his family resources are limited because they have no other source of income but finding a partner and financing won't be an issue. The teams local revenues have been near the bottom but that's more because of the stadium than the actual management of the team.

I really think the "old school" owners - still hold a deep grudge against Al Davis (for suing them - to move to L.A. so long ago).
This is their way - of getting back at the Davis family.
..
Mark Davis can not hold out two years to partner with the Rams in Los Angeles. I think that's what this whole - one year option for the Chargers was meant to accomplish.
I can not prove this.... It's just a deep belief I have.
..
Eventually, Mark is either going to run out of time, or run out of money.
In that time - the fans suffer, the NFL suffers, and everyone loses.
ALL I See - is two years of "drama" because of greed.
..
FORCE him to sell the team - and get this resolved.
Just my opinion.

No matter what they said publicly, I don't believe for a second the NFL has any intention of granting Mark Davis and the Raiders LA. Leaving an open slot in LA is going to give NFL owners perpetual leverage over their respective cities stadium deals to put up or shut up.

They may not want the Raiders in LA but they're legally bound to allow the team to move so it would be in the best interest for the League to assist Davis in his search for a home.

I agree. He earned a concession. He'll get that. Just not LA. Clearly, that's just my opinion. Personally, I think its crazy for them not to build a stadium in Oakland.

I just do not see the Raiders ever getting to LA or SoCal ever again, The NFL basically put a mechanism in the plan. If the vote fails, then Chargers will move to LA for the 2017 season, If Chargers cannot get financing for a SD stadium, The Raiders will not either. No public money means San Diego becomes an ex NFL city. Now this is what is interesting, If the voters approve financing, The Chargers get the option of extending their decision to January 2018. Even if they have every intention of building in SD, they can effectively block the Raiders from the LA market for an additional year. Mark Davis cannot sit on his thumbs for the next 2 years "hoping" a SoCal option opens up for him.

Is that part of the deal? If they are approved the Chargers get a year 2 and the Raiders get no remedy? WOW. If true, I will have to amend the LA part of my earlier take. Also be plenty pleased.
Looks like the Chargers are all about blocking other teams. Now if they could get the tackle part down as well they might get a few more W's.... 8-)

Spanos thinks he's going to get the citizens of SD to approve financing for a stadium for him? Guy is delusional. Not after this last year of pissing them them all off. His choices are going to be move in with the Rams in LA or keep playing in that dump called Qual-Comm.

What Spanos did was hire someone that the hoteliers have and will work with so it's a smart move. It also shows that Spanos is actually trying to make it work in SD.

I agree with that hiring I think it's close to a sure thing he stays. This is likely somebody that will be able to sell either site to him. With Goodell and Grubman hinting that the owners felt that So Cal was a two team market I doubt the Raidets get anywhere close to LA now.
