I don't watch enough college to have any kind of smart/informed opinion.

But i do watch the Rams a lot and i think they'd probably be wasting a high draft pick on a QB. I'd rather they spend it on defense where we know they know what they're doing...

If they trade up for Goff or Wentz then fine.(my poll picks) Otherwise WR is another position where we need a prime time player. With TA and if Q or Marquez can step it up, we could be on to something. Set at RB. Early D might be asking for scrutiny if the O still punks.
I'd rather trade Foles and a pick for a vet at QB as long as they have a pulse and a future.

Ben Allbright, who has an excellent track record, said the NFL guys he trusts told him Goff will drop.

Now, that would be interesting. There is a long way to go until April 28th.

Any insights in to why?

Is it because those teams have other needs, or are satisying their QB-needs via free agency or trades, or is it because they believe Goff isn't as good as initially thought?

Just a thought but it may have to do with the mobility/ability to run. Offenses have been successful lately more with those mobile QB's. Could be a growing trend. We've had Cam of course but Wilson is very mobile, hell even Alex Smith can run. RG3 had his one great season and now we're seeing a couple guys that are very mobile in Lynch and Wentz who also have great arms that can make passes with their arm as well. Could be a growing trend.

I can see Carson Wentz moving up the board. I think he has more upside. But whoever takes him will need to a vet QB he can sit behind for a year or two. I don't think he's as NFL ready as Goff. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Cowboys take him. Romo's entering the twilight of his career.

I find this commentary embarrassing
Harrell was a fine college QB and had exceptional ability to throw slants where his WR didn't break stride. Still and all, a lot of his yardage was YAC.
Goff won me over in the games I watched by his ability to throw the 15-20 yard depth throws. And his laser quick release buys him a split second

I understand the knocks on Goff about his size and durability but to me a comparison to Graham Harrell is complete ignorance. Albright thinks he's outsmarting everyone by analyzing the coaching tree. Idiot

There have been 14 QBs that have started in the last 12 SBs. 7 of them were 1st round picks, and 7 were not.

The ones that weren't are:
1. Brady
2. Wilson
3. Warner
4. Kaepernick
5. Hasselbeck
6. Dellhomme
7. Brees

These QBs were acquired in various ways, 2nd round, 3rd round, 6th round, trade, and FA. And I didn't even take into account Peyton Manning who was both a 1st round QB for Indy and a FA for Denver.

The point here is that getting to the Super Bowl does not require drafting a QB in the 1st round, it's about as likely that you can get there without a 1st round QB.

What you have to do is pursue all your options, draft, FA, and trade, and do a good job a evaluations, and get some luck. You will always need some luck because as the great Tom Landry once said.... more than any other position you know the least about a QB until you play him.
