IMO this pre-season is make or break for Stetson's NFL career. He needs to show he belongs at this level and can be a starter. He's got a lot to prove. More than anything he needs to show he can read defenses, go through his progressions quickly, and make the right decisions. His collegiate two reads, run, or dance around and ad-lib isn't going to cut it at this level. He's got a lot to prove. He doesn't have to be a finished product but he must show that given another year maybe two he can be that guy. This offense is more QB friendly now, but even then it requires a pocket passer first and foremost.

This will be an interesting preseason. IMO this could be the last year in which they play 3 games in preseason. I think they will convert that final game to an 18-game regular season. What this will do is put pressure on teams to ensure they have a legit #2QB to be a contender. I think that was a huge part of why McVay has changed his offense to be about moving the chains with big plays coming in the form of receiver YAC.

Jimmy G. is suspended for the first two games. At this point you gotta figure Stetson is Stafford's backup going into the season...

Yep, unless something dramatic happens between now and say the 2nd preseason game. Even then, they are kinda rolling the dice with him in the #2 roll for the first two games.

It's interesting. If they're planning on him at #2 for the first two weeks, they might hold him out of preseason. If it weren't for the Jimmy G. suspension, i'd expect to see a lot of Stetson but now i'm not so sure...

I dont think the Rams really have that luxury, he has got get some time I would think. It will be interesting if he gets more reps in the dallas practices...

Right. I'd think Rams will be adding another scrimmage, Texans in Houston?

I have zero expectations for Bennett. I wasn't impressed with what I saw last year. Then the whole saga of why he missed to season for non football stuff. If he works his way into becoming a legit QB2 then great. But at the moment I'm not expecting that to happen.

I see every reason to play him at least the first two games. He missed all of last year so he's really behind. If the Rams need him as #2 for the first two games then he needs the experience of playing.

Beyond that all depends upon how he looks in preseason and as #2. I for one isn't holding my breath. How he plays in a structured need to stand in and read offense IMO is debatable in that it's not his game. His highlight reels are filled with ad-lib passes. His undersized stature will make it difficult for him to play as a pure pocket passer. It was the same issue with Wolford.

The Rams need him to show he belongs at this level. Otherwise IMO they replace him next year. Jimmy G's presence is IMO a reflection of the Ram's expectations or lack thereof.

What do they do with Bennett now?

He's the 3rd qb. Let him learn and grow and we'll see if he's an NFL qb.

It's been a while since the Rams spent a draft pick on a developmental qb.
