JT got burned on the Bradford trade but he's intimated before that Fisher may not have been fully in the loop when it came to that trade. So maybe this is true and there's a power shift that's been going on for a little while now?

Still, can't say the results have been any different...

This quote angers me so much I cant see straight.

I gotta say I'm very impressed with Snead's honesty. I've gotten tired of the politically correct media speak.

I suppose I agree about the honesty, however it infuriates me to believe Fisher and crew were that obtuse. I mean, it was suggested by posters that was the case and it seemed so adolescent to believe that.
I was a big supporter of Foles and despite that I still had concerns about the drop off in his production. To think they just thought, yeah he's our guy, he'll be good like he was, is just insane to me.
What other players have spots on the team using that same rationale?

Nick came in got paid and must have shown great stuff in camp. He also had a leadership quality I remember the players rallying behind. So I can see where Keenum and Mannion might not have gotten the run they should have in hindsight. Once the season started and Foles had a great game against the Hags, it must have been looked upon as validation. They didn't give the other guys the reps with the 1's so they stuck with Foles until he crapped his pant's one time to many.
Now they will have a competition because it obvious this year. That clarity and the results of last years decision is likely what prompted Sneads 'honest' comment. I for one am glad that is the new reality. I also hope that those aren't the only guys in our QB competition mix this coming season.

Only problem with that is the fact that Foles looked horrible in pre-season. The entire offense did.
Only bright spot was Keenum in 2 half
Furthermore, if there was competition, it might have raised Foles level. He probably would have won the job any way but at least he would have had to work for it

I remember the pre's and I couldn't tell if it was Foles, the receivers, the "vanilla" play calls or what. The team in general did not resemble a well oiled machine. Keenum with the 2's were going against the other guys 2's also.
dieter, I do not know the answer, but as a result of the Rams approach, they showed it was a bad decision not giving all the QB's a legitimate chance to start. It's not like the competition was between Mannion, Keenum and Tom Brady. And they extended Foles too. $$$
Or were they in acceptance of mediocrity in light of smaller crowds backing their bigger play last year?

It just reinforces the idea that Fisher has no clue what to look for in a QB or how to cultivate one. So basically, they found a team to trade with, (which was a great trade regardless of how Foles played) and said, "well this guy was good 2 years ago, so he must be pretty good" Then he shows up at Rams Park and says the right things, (since his Philly career was over) and they say "Wow, good attitude. Since he must be pretty good, lets give him a new contract"
Etc, etc...

So who knows why they picked Mannion or have any idea of what to look for in him.

I can see how after game 1, there wasn't a soul around who didn't love Nick Foles and we all thought he'd be a stud at that point. I am more concerned that was their mindset and I don't think it just changes over night

I don't know, this is sounding a lot like hindsight. Cignetti was new and Foles was new. They both had to get as many rep's as possible just to try and get to normal. Splitting rep's with Keenum and Mannion would have just diluted the already behind schedule offense. Being uncertain about who the starter at QB is going to be isn't usually good either.

The only real error I see was giving Foles a contract before he ever played a down. I didn't see a problem with having him on a contract year and going out and proving he deserved the job.

The reason they extended Foles is that A. They really did believe he was the long term answer and more importantly, B. If indeed he was going to be what they thought, it was a lot cheaper to extend him then than wait until after he played well and became an UFA.

Agreed, they played it safe but in typical Rams fashion they failed to play it right.
